It was a sweet book and I really loved that the characters were mature enough to hold serious conversations without throwing tantrums. BUT I what keeps me from giving the book four stars is the rape topic. It is adressed from the begining but there are no serious confrontations nor it is given the importance it should have had.

So it's safe to say that I had no intention of starting this at 8pm tonight and staying up to finish it till almost 12am! Once again the author didn't disappoint! I loved getting to know Brady better and to finally get the whole truth surrounding Riley!!
This actually felt more YA than the other ones, if I'm remembering correctly. But I'm definitely not complaining about that. It was refreshing.
It ended a bit unfinished, in my opinion. I wish it had a five years later type of epilogue.

When I started reading The Field Party series, I expected Friday Night Lights, and although the first two books had all the makings to create that experience, it never really happened. However, I would say this installment finally hit the FNL spot, as well as tugging hard on my heartstrings.

This book had a lot more football than the pervious two books. I don't know if it is because this was the QBs story or because their season was wrapping up, but I thought there was more of the game in this book. There also was a lot more of the town. I really got that small town feeling on more than one occasion during this book, and that was very FNL for me too.
I had been interested in Riley's story since her very brief initial appearance, and after the last book, I really wanted to know more. I found myself connecting with Riley so much. Although I was much older than Riley when I became a mom, I was in a similar situation with a disinterested dad, but I shared so many of her feelings. When she talked about the first time she held her daughter in her arms, and the way it wiped away all the bad that transpired prior to her birth, it brought me right back to my own daughter's birth. Riley was a dedicated mother and daughter, and she gave up a lot to be that way.
Brady was always billed as the nice, good guy of the group, but his actions often contradicted this label. He started amending his ways in the last book, and continued to grow and live up to his golden boy image. Deciding to befriend Riley was not going to help him win any popularity contests, but he knew it was the right thing to do.
This is the last book in this three-player arc, and I can now see how they all fit together. Each boy had something big to overcome, and Brady's world was up-ended in a way he never expected, and honestly, I never would have seen it coming. This was his test of character, the event that would separate his boyhood from his manhood, and I must say, he rose to the challenge.
This was a great final-ish book as it revisited our prior two couples, and also incorporated them into the storyline. It was easy to find the connections between this story and the prior two, and I like that there was continuity. You do not need to read the other two books to enjoy this book, but it is something that is nice for us who did.
The moms in this book was so stellar! We already talked about Riley, but her mother and Brady's mom really shined as well. In fact, both Riley's parents were something special. Their love was so obvious and unconditional, and it was a joy to see each and every one of their interactions.
Another shining spot was Bryony. She was the cutest thing and just about stole every scene she was in. I could totally picture this little cherub, and she totally brought a smile to my face.
I keep seeing people saying the women in these books are weak. Each of the heroines had something big shake their world up: Maggie's mother was murdered, Willa's went to jail following her friend's suicide, and Riley was raped and run out of town. Each had to overcome something major, but I think each one showed some strong character. Maggie turned in a woman, who still didn't say much, but when she did, she said exactly what she meant. Willa began to trust herself again, to hold her head up, and she was deciding what was best for herself and doing it her way. Riley retuned to Lawton a social pariah, and would not let those people keep her from living her life. Maybe they had moments of weakness, but these young women were not weak to me.
I enjoyed this book and this series as a whole. Glines delivered her signature drama, but also gave me the HEAs I crave.

This started out really great and the premise hooked me in. the thing about this book is i couldn't really empathize with Riley. I understand this whole series is about getting over the hard parts of your life and moving forward but... how do you forgive your rapist? especially when it's your boyfriends brother and the whole town shuns you and chases you out. I can't relate to this situation because i've never gone through it but i would've acted differently. like for 1.) when her rapist acknowledges her at the end and says "i just want to see my baby" even after telling everyone he didn't rape her and creating lies and ruining her life she still felt bad for him at the end... I understand that living the rest of your life with a grudge isn't a good thing but she was raped at 15 and impregnated and the whole town believed she had sex with someone else and tried to pin it on rhett for his money. I JUST CANT! if that was me i would've behaved different towards everyone who treated me like a sack of shit. talking about it makes me really angry but am i just being heartless?
I'd give this book 10 stars if I could, and of course another million stars for Bryony!! She is the cutest she deserves all the happiness with her mom and Brady. My smile came automatically whenever Bryony was around lol I know it's dumb. This is one of my favorite book in the series eventhough I still can't put my mind on the fact that one of my favorite couple was broken here
This has been my favorite book of the series so far. It built on the first two and I liked that we still saw the other couples, but Brady and Riley are my favorite couple. Riley was raped by the town golden boy and no one believed her. She now has a daughter and is trying to make the most of her situation. Brady thought everything was going great, until he realizes people aren't always the perfect facade they put on.
The way Brady treats Riley and her daughter is so sweet. He's a good son and friend and he has a future laid out. Riley has let things go and moved on in a way a lot of people wouldn't be able to. They are both resilient and stronger together. The narration for the audiobook was great and I really enjoyed listening to this.

After 'Under the Lights' I wasn't too sure how I'd feel about this book. However, I completely fell in love with this. Riley was such an empowering character. She'd been raped, got told she was lying by the entire town and had a child but only saw the positives. All at the age of 17. I loved every scene with her daughter Bryony. There was so much love and affection in this novel.
INCREDIBLE!
