I thought this was pretty good. Pride and prejudice is one of my favorite stories of all time. It is one of my favorite books, movies and tv shows. I also love an adaptation but I often find they let me down. This didn’t let me down. I thought the remix would feel forced but the author made it feel seem less. I didn’t love all of the changes made, namely with Wickham’s character. By the end I understand why the author made that choice but I thought it was still a tad clunky. Overall I really liked it and would recommend for anyone looking for books with LGBTQIA+ rep (especially trans-masculine). I read this authors debut and really liked that as well so I can’t wait to see what is next.

Absolutely amazing! I loved reading  this book. I was so invested that I had to fight back tears a few times. Its an excellently written queer remix of Pride and Prejudice and I loved it! Also, I think the beautiful cover art by Marlowe Lune deserves a shoutout, I can’t wait to show off this book in my library!

A very refreshing retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice, perfectly suited for a young adult reader. While some of the characterizations of the original characters didn’t line up for me, it didn’t detract from the story and it made sense for these new, younger characters. I had such an enjoyable time reading this story and I felt I was getting a very genuine and vulnerable perspective of what it’s like to be transgender. I definitely recommend to anyone who is a Jane Austen fan and is looking for an LGBTQ+ retelling.

A sweet read. A familiar story makes the reading companionable. I read it in essentially one sitting. The writing was consistent, though not particularly noteworthy, and there were some twists of characters that felt fitting, if not as fleshed out as they could be. The end felt a bit rushed, and I think many of the topics were not addressed as deeply as they could’ve been (eg charlotte), though I think that would’ve turned the tone of the book heavier overall which is probably an intentional choice.
