It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book with such an interesting premise of a story that felt unique and fresh. Girl A follows the story of Lex a child abuse survivor making contact with her siblings who also suffered abuse. The children were split up and each chapter delves into a different character.

I thought this book dealt with the issue of abuse and trauma and religious overtones quite confidently and I found the pacing good. However, I did find myself a little confused, a lot of stuff is alluded to and not fully explained. However; a lot of the book is the main character coming to grips with things that happened to her and her siblings as a child so there is a chance that this is intentional.

I’m giving it 3.5 stars currently but I do think this could be a book that warrants a reread

Could’ve been made a lot more interesting than it was. Also found it a bit difficult to read as the timelines changed constantly.

Compelling and well written. I struggled with the topic though.. it doesn’t sit well with me to read about child abuse.

It has been a long time since a book gave me nightmares.
