A disconcerting reworking of the serial killer narrative told through the stories a mother, a sister and an investigator. The women's stories are to the driving force of the plot and the killer just provides the link between them. The book has lots to say about our obsession with serial killers but its beautifully written and gripping from the first page. The epilogue is the most perfect ending to this book, leaving us with so many questions about our society, about our capacity for change and redemption.
