Not sure if I am the messed up one for absolutely loving anti-heroes or the authors are for writing such a swoon-worthy one.

Yes, it is dark. Hero- is a sex trafficker, and calls the h practically nothing but "pet" -that was a bit much for me, but it fit the story well.

I honestly LOVED the internal dialogue of Juliet. Most of the time I cannot stand the whiny monologues of their justifications. Juliet though admitted to herself just how f*cked up her Master was and how f*cked she was falling for him. Self-awareness, I love it.

And with a beautiful HEA!!!

This is an intense dark romance book. It is what can be referred to as a dark captive romance. Donovan trains captured women to be pets for other men. Juliet is a concert pianist who intrigues Donovan. He is very cruel to her when first captured and eventually she develops feelings for him in a Stockholm Syndome manner. He realizes that he is obsessed with her and is not ready to let her go. Also her brother Romeo is searching for Juliet as well.
This is a book for those who like intense relationships that start out on very unequal grounds. You do see the chemistry of the couple and do start rooting for them. There are other characters who are more evil and try to disrupt the relationship. This was a quick read and enjoyable when you are in the mood for a morally ambiguous romance.

I've been looking forward to this book since the cliffhanger in Mafia Casanova. I five starred that book. I loved it so much. Sadly, I do not have the same feelings about this book. I knew from the beginning that it was not for me. It was too dark and I really didn't like the master/pet theme at all. It just didn't appeal to me and creeped me out.
But, I love Rachel Van Dyken and applaud her and M. Robinson for trying something different. While the story is not for me, I have read many four and five star reviews. It may be the one for you. I strongly suggest that you read the description of this one and not go in blind before one-clicking, though. Like always, I will anxiously await more from these authors.

Thank you to Valentine PR and the authors for an advance readers copy in exchange for my honest review.

Let me just say this off the top. Be careful. The blurb changed on this one and it's a lot darker than most people were expecting so check your triggers and be aware that this is DARK romance that won't be for everyone. That being what it is, and since I don't read blurbs of favourite authors, I had no idea what to expect going into this. And I was taken on a beautifully dark, angsty journey where I didn't know which way was up at times. Donovan isn't a likeable character. It's right there in the title. He is the villain. And Juliet (who you may have seen in her brother's book Mafia Casanova) is the light to his dark. This was such a raw, gritty read and I still don't know quite how to put into words how I really felt about it but to say I enjoyed it and the writing was beautiful. If you like these authors and this kind of dark romance then by all means pick it up. You won't regret it. I volunteered to read and review an early copy of this. All opinions are my own.

I know what to expect from this duo but still, I was left surprised. I kind of expecting the same quality as Mafia Casanova. But it felt like something was missing and rushed at times. I've read a considerable amount of dark and taboo romances, but this felt too dark and cringey at times. This book wasn't for me but it might just be a one-miss. I'm still looking forward to this duo's future works.

If you are a dark romance lover make sure you read this one! I loved this book from the beginning to the end! There was never a dull moment that’s for sure. Plus if you want steamy…this one delivers and then some! I didn’t want this one to end. That epilogue left me wanting more….in a good way. This book is definitely not for the faint of heart. It definitely could be triggering for some. I would only recommend this book for other dark romance fans.

Received a book for a honest review.
