What a wonderful, heart-warming, emotional read. I loved how the relationship between the housekeeper and her son and the professor developed and grew over the course of the novel. It was so beautiful to see how the Professor took the housekeeper's son under his wing and grew to care for him like a son in his own way. It was also beautiful to see how much of an impact the Professor had on the mother and son. This is a book I would buy and have on my shelf. I would like to read it again sometime since this first time I only listened to it on audiobook.

I wasn’t sure if the centrality of math to the story would add or detract from the story, but Ogawa manages to convey the ideas and importance of math without talking down to the characters or the audience. Much like Memory police I think I respected what Ogawa was doing with the story more than I personally enjoyed it.
