This book was incredibly informative about lead exposure and environmental pollution during the 20th century, and introduced me to examples of corporate greed and its impact on people and communities about which I was previously unaware. There was also a whole lot of detailed recounting of grisly and tragic murder. Though I think I understand the author’s decision to approach all of it in such an unflinching way, it wore me down pretty quickly. I would have liked a better cited, more scientific approach to examine whether there is more going on than mere correlation between the key topics  of the book. Perhaps that’s not the point, but it’s a harrowing read if we’re only meant to be left with a “maybe” and a grim sense of determination in light of all of the despair.

Chaotically written. Jumped around between stories or aspects of the story. The descriptions of the serial killings are not long and drawn out but rather quick and to the point. The content was  gruesome of course and then the jumping around lost my attention.
