Every once in awhile, a book comes along that just resonates so deeply with you that you know you will never forget it. That epic story that breathes and sings. This is that books. The amazing story of Axios and Eryx, two Spartans born to be soldiers and made for each other. There are just so many amazing moments in this book that move you. I would pay anything to see this on screen!!

If you only have a slight if any interest in ancient Roman and Greek warfare and culture, it can be a bit of a slog. The first 1/3 of the book is like any other young friends to lovers story but once Axios and Eryx are young teens, it becomes very repetitive with the training regimens and, later, warfare and I just have no interest in the culture. However, for those very interested in history of this time period, it's a hearty recommend because it is impressive how much research and historical knowledge went into writing it. I ended up getting bored with 100 pages to go so skimmed that. It's also not a HEA story and the last few chapters were hard to read yet disappointing after putting so much effort into the rest of the book.

Talk about an epic love story. Spanning over 30 years, we get the love story of two Spartan warriors.

And I learned a lot about Sparta in the process. Even learned of the Sacred Band of badass fighters comprised of male couples/lovers. Even though they’re the enemy, they were kinda awesome to learn about.

Axios is strong, but he’s a dreamer and believes in humanity. Erynx is the son of a military deserter, and he’s determined to take his family legacy back. When the two meet in training they find in each other their missing piece. They’re friends by 10, and in love, for life, by teenagers.

Once the two become of age, their love convinces them that l no wife is worth separation. Something unusual at the time. They live, love and fight alongside each other through thick and thin.

They’re warriors and because of this one is primed to be wary of their longevity. But, in the end, their deaths are even epic, and in true form, together.

This was told in Axios’ POV. I know another book is from Erynx, I just don’t know if I can take it, knowing their ending. I did read the end of Erynx though and it’s perfect.

Me tomó por sorpresa la manera en que esta autora escribe.
Sin embargo, se tornaba a veces algo aburrida la historia por tanto amor y caricias.
En resumen, un libro bastante decente

Where to begin? This book shattered me completely. I’m literally writing this as tears roll down my face non-stop. Axios and Eryx’s story was the most beautiful I’ve ever read. I swear to God I’ve never seen nor experienced the amount of love they had for each other. It was completely wonderful and endearing to read them, and I’m completely sure no one will ever get to understand how much they loved and adored each other, because their feelings were so pure and cannot be described with such mundane words. Every love word seems empty and meaningless when it comes to describing their devotion and yearning. I knew how their story would end, I knew they were going to perish on the battlefield. Yet, I was not ready for it. Their end crushed me completely, even knowing their love is meant to last beyond death. I feel warm knowing that such a love story exists, this book was completely amazing and beautiful I simply cannot.
