This was an entire waste of time. As if the slow dragging wasn’t enough by the end nothing was actually accomplished. The main characters have quite the  detailed arcs but even with that, by the end you still don’t know them. You don’t connect with them. I don’t even sympathize with them. Will not be reading remainder of the series.

This book is not good: it’s twilight but more sex. Thea is insufferable; Julian is a prick and they don’t exist enough about him to make new feel like his looks are a redeeming quality of his

The story was interesting at the start, even though I'm not a fan of the insta-love/insta-lust plot. I liked Thea at first, but then her personality just got so inconsistent. The naive virgin 22 year old going away with the rich, hot 900+ year old vampire she'd known for less than a week was a bit ridiculous. Not to mention, she left her sick mom behind, and Julian unilaterally decided to withdraw her from her course work for the rest of the school year. Julian's personality was basically that of a feral caveman, and him choosing to give her the nickname "pet" felt icky, and I hate how he ended up throwing that in her face in the last chapter. There was so much miscommunication and secret keeping that never got properly resolved. The characters just got sexual and moved on without any discussion. I know it's only book 1 in the series, but I feel like there's so much of the plot that was introduced that was still underdeveloped regarding the rules and norms of the vampire/witch world.

This book has an “Interview with a Vampire “ and “Twilight” vibe. The story includes age gap, paranormal, and forbidden love. We go from contemporary in San Francisco to almost historical with the traditions and rites in Paris. Of course, just as I thought this fabulous story was gonna elaborate instead, it leaves me wrecked with a cliffhanger ending. But a new book will be out soon, and I can’t wait to read it.

Julian is a cranky vampire, but he relies on his assistant Celia. I find it intriguing that he lives on an island off the coast of Florida but not belonging to any one government. This gets more twisted as we find out the real reason he is awoken and what his duty entails.

Thea is a cellist and a coffee lover. She is funny and a hard worker. I love her quips in the conversations.

The vampire elite has some peculiarities, and I’m still trying to understand them. She is feisty and intelligent and definitely pushes his buttons. Their conversations are fabulous. Ah, I was wondering when reality would hit Thea.

Thea’s world is rocked with paranormal revelations. What will happen now? Julian is old-fashioned and trying to fit into the new world, which is hilarious, and Thea is kinda a hot mess, but at least she owns it.

Thea is very innocent and amusing watching this old vampire teach her things. They keep mentioning “ the Rites,” and I want to know their exact details as they are talked about so covertly.

This relationship gets steamy, and we see a side of vampires we don’t usually see in these books. Thea and Julian are magnetically attracted to each other, and you can’t help but feel it in the pages. This book has a lot to understand in it, and we get a romantic date, a sexy interlude, and then it wrecks me with a cliffhanger ending. I can’t wait to read more, mainly if it includes the same characters. I want to know what happens to the fated mates, star-crossed forbidden lovers. I truly enjoyed this Vampire Romance.

I should feel bad about the ending but I honestly don’t…

I was so excited for this book! I thought this would be a dark romance that had a strong fmc and a cocky mmc… I only got one of those things.

Thea (fc: Bridget Satterlee):
- SO ANNOYING!!! I couldn’t stand her and how she desperately wanted to loose her v-card like girl STAND UP!!!
- She fell to fast and she barely knew Julian?!?!
- Choose a man over everything… could never!

Julian (fc: Henry Cavill):
- Way too possessive like calm down-
- It was cute when he tried to figure out how to use a phone.
- What a bad man breaking rules-

This book was honestly annoying like this had instant love trope which hello?!?!

This didn’t feel like fake dating to me! Geneva don’t lie!

The spice wasn’t what I expected I needed more… LOOK AWAY!!!

I still can’t believe Thea is that dumb and naive that she threw her life away for a man.

THIS GIRL NEEDS TO STOP MAKING HER VIRGINITY HER WHOLE PERSONALITY LIKE WE GET IT AND YOU WANT TO LOSE IT TO A VAMPIRE CALM DOWN!!!

I don’t know if this is considered fantasy romance? If it is I am so lost! Didn’t understand anything! :D

Overall 2.5/5 stars. This book let me down I didn’t like it and will be selling it on Pango Books.

Will I read the second book? Probably.

I found out that there’s 4 books about Julian and Thea not 2… FOUR BOOKS!!!
