This dark romance novel is the story about a young girl who saves the lives of 3 deadly men. When she enters their world or rather they fully enter hers, everything changes. This novel is not only romance driven but plot driven. There isn't a single scene included to fill pages or bridge a gap in the timeline. It is decent paced and does contain violence, self harm and gruesome language.
2.5 generous stars. Listen, here's what this book does somewhat well: There's potential for an interesting, intriguing story. It's not really original, but it could be great. Unfortunately, this book also makes a whole lot of mistakes.
The characters are superficial and two-dimensional with no shred of originality. Marcus is the fearful leader, Ryland the grumpy on and Theo the funny one. Ayla is the wannabe victim turned tough-girl turned victim again. I don't know but I don't really care for it.
Towards the end when we finally get some more insights into what is going on, I have to admit that I laughed out loud. This entire setting with Luca and his future heir had me in stitches. BUT, I will give the second book a go to see if some of the potential I see in this one is actually used.

I like the fact that the main female character is flawed and not some pretty pretty princess type character. She's rough and has had bad shit happen in her life. The three guys who are obsessed with her are also relatable. The underlying danger plot is an interesting twist.
This story is definitely interesting! I don't understand what made Ayla react that night at Club 47, but it's made the story even more intriguing. Ryland is the more silent protector, but I'm glad we figured out why he was acting like he didn't care about Ayla. Marcus claims her every chance he gets. Theo is the more laid-back guy, but willing to do whatever to protect those he loves. The ending with Marcus getting shot by that jerk Carson?! Ugh!
