Sweet Obsession

As far as books based on a male's absolute obsession with his the female protagonist at least this one was more than a scent (usually in paranormal romance) or just insta-love. Likely, if she hadn't saved his life he would have carried on in her life and not thought about her except perhaps in a missed connection sort of way. But seeing her almost die for him with no reason what-so-ever for it that he could ascertain but that she had a good soul, his obsession was born. Normally books like this give me the creeps. Men lurking in shadows waiting for the woman to fall into peril so they can swoop in and white knight her to safety? Pass. But some how the addition of two other men, one who hates everything about their mission to protect her and the other with crazy golden retriever energy, kind of balances it out perfectly. Inevitably they all admit they are obsessed with her to some degree, but the varying personalities make it more concise and enjoyable.

Ayla is the first female protagonist that I have read about who had a disability to the extend of an amputated limb. Usually the females I read about have internal scars, not external. But damn is she a warrior. She refuses to give into social pressure to wear her prosthetic if she is able to function better without it. She doesn't hide her scars, she embraces them, even placing tattoos on her amputated arm to make something she sees as unpleasant to look at beautiful. She entered her connection with Marcus and his men with a healthy dose of resistance and weariness which only made me love her more.

The author did a good job of making sure each of the men were different so they could stand out as their own characters while also maintaining that trio feel to them. I am always a sucker for a broody bastard so Ryland is by far my favorite of the three. He also tried to resist Ayla the most projecting a hateful aura towards her which poorly masked how he truly felt.

I think that the first part of the series was stellar. It had an air of mystery in it which the games get mixed into the romance between the four. Sweet Obsession tackles dark pasts, selfless acts, danger, and love in a beautiful and unique way.

Freeken love this series.

DID NOT FINISH: 53%

This was so bad, I tried really hard to like the characters but for the most part it was honestly just creepy. By the time I was half way in I realised I was just as bored as when I started it.

In the first book in this trilogy, we get to see the different backgrounds the characters have. Our main female character is drawn into a game of life in death when she steps in the way of a bullet meant to kill one of our male characters. After saving his life, he has determined that every heartbeat after that fact belongs to her and has spent most of his time after that incident stalker her, along with his two best friends.

Seriously!

I loved this book! It took me completely by surprise! I didn't think I would like it, the way others described it I didn't think it was for me. However from the first page I was hooked! I stayed up all night reading and I felt like I was reading for 10 minutes...The characters are so wonderfully written you fall in love with them so easily... This book came out of left field and stole my heart...I won't give any spoilers, this book speaks for itself.... If you are looking for a spicy book that will surprise you until the end this is it! The story is 5 stars and the heat level is 10!

The FMC is called Ayla and she grew up in foster care. When she was 18, coming out of a night club, she saw a guy who was hudled with his friends talking in an alley. she started to walk when a car came out of no where and started firing at the man. It was a reflex for her to jump in front of the bullets and save the mans life. Due to the injury, she had lost flood flow to her arm and it needed to be amputated. Now two years later, she is coping with only having one arm and is working so she can afford to go to college. One day she is walking down an alley and is about to be mugged when the man and his two friends come out tf the shadow and save her. They dont speak to her, but from that point on she sees them keeping an eye on her from the distance. That distance becomes smaller and smaller as the time goes on. I would say this is a medium to fast burn and the FMC is dumb. she annoys me a bit because she has absolutly no skill at anything but constantly decides to be stupid in situations. and after like 3 weeks of knowing the guys, she already says she loves them. it turns out that they are part of the elite in the society and the all powerful ruler behind the scene put on a game where the other powerful families enter their kids into. The survivor will be the heir to the city. it is to the death. Overall this book was fine. Ayla annoyed me and whenever there was a life threatning situation, all she wanted to do is fuck her men. She got better towards the end of the series but the overall storyline got boring at that point.
