I struggled to get through this. It sucks. I assumed it was a smutty novella but it’s a poorly written romance novel with no spice and no chemistry.

Simplemente genial. No había leido nada parecido a lo que se refiere este libro. Fui de las primeras personas en leerlo en español, para ayudar a la autora a verificar que la traducción estuviera echa lo mejor posible en español mexicoamericano, porque era importante para la protagonista.
El comienzo fue muy bueno, porque desde ahi te deja un poco intrigada respecto al pasado de la protagonista, Dra. Ramirez y el posible romance que hubo con su colega el Dr. Medina y el por que lo odiaba.
Me gusto como entra las familias mexicanas en lo que es una vida en Estados Unidos, aunque aqui no se noto mucho la diferencia en el cambio de idiomas, ya que lo lei en español. Me gusto mucho como se incluyo todo eso.
Una historia de doctores me pareció interesante, ademas de lo que supone romance entre estos personajes, había mucho mas, como el estudio clínico en el que trabajaban y los problemas dentro de un hospital y la gerencia.
Antes de comenzar a leerlo, se me dijo que tenia contenido erotico para mayores de edad, POSIBLE SPOILER... la verdad es que yo esperaba que hubiera un poco de eso desde el comienzo o en medio, y no solo al final. Y debo decir que la descripción de las escenas fueron extremadamente explicitas, no dejaron nada a la imaginación, por lo que creo que fue algo muy bueno.

I went in not knowing much about this book. I just signed up to read the arc, to help support a new Latina romance author. I must say this was a surprising treat.
From the start, her characters were captivating, full of charm, sass, and heart. Dr. Carolina Ramirez was fierce, inspiring, a total badass oncologist. I totally have a little bit of a girl crush on her. The way she cares for her patients, friends and family was so heart warming to read. The character development, the storyline, the cancer research/hospital setting was all well thought out. I really enjoyed reading about the blossoming relationship between Carolina Ramirez and Hector Medina, her mentor/boss, from work colleagues to friends to lovers, that expanded over nine years. It was super slow burn, making their chemistry so intense and full of sexual tension as their relationship developed, it sizzled off the page. Hector was the perfect book boyfriend, he was selfless when it came to his desires toward Carolina, making sure not to hurt her reputation and career. Overall, this story was sweet, relatable, and definitely hit home for me. So many, great references to Mexican culture and it captured a lot of the mannerisms of Latinos. Ofelia Martinez’s debut novel was so wonderful to read and a great start to a series. I will be looking forward to the next book in the series.
If you like a super slow burn, medical drama romance, mixed in with a forbidden workplace romance and a strong female main character, then you should give this book a read.
