A fun little mystery with a setting near and dear to my heart.
dark informative mysterious medium-paced

I totally love this series and all the characters
dark mysterious tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes
fast-paced

Engaging, but there are some plot holes!

Not keen on the Fatphobia or the apparent acceptance that adultery is normal behaviour for everyone.. that being said, I really liked the way that history and mythology were wrapped into the story and the way it all came together. I suspected who it was and was pleasantly surprised at how it all came together.

It wasn't as much fun as the Christmas story but it was intriguing and felt fairly real. I like the main characters, so I will continue with the Ruth Galloway mysteries for at least another book or two.

Wow. What a lame initial review for a series I've fallen in love with, except the last book (2019). Here's hoping the 2020 book gets us back on track.

For those who don't know, the Christmas story is titled Ruth's First Christmas Tree and I stumbled across it somewhere and it's very atmospheric and an interesting introduction to some of the key characters in this series.
