Short, sweet, and entertaining.

A brilliant little George R.R. Martin fairytale, perfect for his adult fans everywhere to read to their future children named Daenerys or Jaime.

Such a cute little read, I love dragons as this was just a nice simple read,

4 Stars

This short children's book was a delightful read. It made me realize how much I missed The Game of Throne series and George R.R Martin's writing and that I really should get back and finish his series. Also, one of the main reasons I picked this book up initially was the gorgeous illustrations. It's a beautiful edition!

The Ice Dragon is told in fairytale language about a girl who was born in Winter and is different from the rest of her family, and the friendship she makes with an Ice Dragon. Ultimately, it's a story about love, family, and sacrifice - and as short as it was (it only took me half an hour to read), I found it to be very moving.

The cold did not bother her, for she was a child of Winter.

GRRM's writing style continues to be one of my favorites. He can write for adults in ASOIAF and has proven he can write for younger audiences in this book, The Ice Dragon. I love how he touches magic in this book, how overwhelming it feels and yet is so fragile to the touch. So happy I bought this book instead of borrowed it, as now my children can inherit this magic.

Loves this book. Only thing I didn't like was how short it was. But all in all it was still good and glad I took a chance on it.

I liked this a lot; it was a quick, amusing, and heartbreaking story at the same time.
The way Adara is described as quite literally being cold-hearted and warming up at the end made for some good character development.

I don’t think I would consider this a children’s novella as it says it is, given how much death and destruction are in the story. The drawings do add to the children’s aspect and are beautifully made, but other than that, I don’t think it’s a children’s book.
