Der Schreibstil ist makellos und die Illustrationen sind umwerfend schön. Dann verließen sie sie aber. Ja, es ist "nur" ein Kinderbuch, aber deshalb hätte es nicht so unterkomplex geraten müssen. Die Charaktere sind eindimensionaler als ein String (das Ding aus der String-Theorie), Atmosphäre kommt nicht wirklich auf und die Handlung ist zwar okay, man hätte aber mehr draus machen können. Trotzdem ein schönes Märchen.

Adara, a young girl, was born during the long winter season. everyone is afraid of the ice dragon except for the winter child Adara who is not afraid. it was like there was a fate and connection between the dragon and the child. On Adara's fifth birthday, she rode the dragon for the first time. every winter, Adara anticipates the ice dragon to arrive so she can ride the dragon to fly further away.

On first thought, Adara wants to fly away from her home but after she witnesses her father’s farm being invaded by the enemy. she pleads with the dragon to fly back to save her family. the ice dragon who loves Adara protects her and her family from the attack of other enemy dragonriders. the sacrifice made by the dragon will always be remembered in this short novel.
The author mentioned the world set in The Ice Dragon novel is not the same world as (a song of ice and fire) aka a game of thrones book. the novel drawings were illustrated by Luis Royo. i love the little details of the pencil drawings. a beautiful short novel collection for the fan of a song of ice and fire series!

Den här boken var verkligen inte min grej. Jag har inte läst Game of Thrones serien så jag har ingen aning om hur mycket den här boken påminner om de böckerna. Men jag vet att jag inte tyckte om att Martin försöker berätta en väldigt lång berättelse på väldigt få sidor. Istället för att lämna utrymme för någon typ av gestaltning så blir det väldigt stora och svepande drag vilket sällan är något jag gillar. Jag fattar att det ska vara i mer klassisk sagostil men jag faller verkligen inte för det. Som så ofta när jag läser böcker skrivna på liknande sätt tycker jag det känns platt och ganska tråkigt.
MEN. Såklart finns det bra saker också! Jag ÄLSKAR illustrationerna, de är så vackra och får mig att vilja kasta mig in i att läsa fantasy för vuxna igen. (När det faktiskt kommer hända är en helt annan femma). Och jag kan se att det finns kids och vuxna som säkert gillar den här boken jättemycket. Men det är inte min smak som sagt.
