2.5 ⭐️ BUT you should still read it, it just wasn’t for me.

I was hoping for a steamy road trip romance based on the cover/title/blurb, but the road trip is over halfway through the book, and then the conflict becomes more about miscommunication which is not my jam at all.

Very steamy sex scenes!

DID NOT FINISH: 4%

Did not like any of the characters and not in the mood for romance anymore. Could go back to it later 🤷🏽‍♀️
medium-paced

dnf@ 15 %. I love a road trip, forced proximity romance, but this did not work for me. I did not connect with, or was particularly interested in, either of these characters. For a forced proximity/road trip romance to work for me, the dialogue must convince me early on that this couple is worth following. This means that the dialogue/banter is particularly important in building interest, chemistry, and a connection between the characters that is not only believable, but also has me invested in the eventual HEA. Instead of chemistry between the main character's, we get descriptions about Jolene talking on the phone about work and Jolene talking to strangers rather than the love interest. Furthermore, the "we broke down and have to get a hotel with only one room and one bed" trope, a perfect opportunity to build connection between the characters, felt rushed. The descriptions of Jolene's attraction for the love interest felt awkward to the point I felt exasperation instead of interest. For me, not worth continuing.
