Well, this was a cute little hate-turned-love romance.
Jolene and Jayson start off as loosely acquainted and in absolute animosity of each other. Jayson is Jolene's brother-in-law's best friend and they did not get along at the wedding. It's not until they each volunteer to help Nicole and Ty (the aforementioned sister and brother-in-law) drive their moving truck as a favor that they get to know one another and form a friendship. What follows is the kind of cute conflict that arises in these books when no one wants to admit their feelings for one another.
I came across this book when someone compared it to Thalia Hibbert's work and yeah, it is reminiscent without being derivative. Jolene is spunky and she can be very fun to read. I do think Jayson could have been a tad better written. I liked him fine, but at times he came across as a bit bland. However, even though it could've been easy to perceive him as a momma's boy based on his relationship with his mom, the writing was able to avoid this without having some tired conflict between mother and son.
Speaking of the writing, the book was a nice, quick read. Ideal as a beach or vacation read. If I had to nitpick, I would prefer for the writing to be lengthier. I don't think the author needed to include additional shenanigans or anything, but I think she could've better fleshed out the scenes in which the characters where emotionally vulnerable. You see, every time conflict occurred, feelings were hurt and people stormed off, there wasn't a scene right after or even the day after where the reader got to experience the character being hurt or upset. It instead cuts to weeks later when the characters have already begun the process of dulling the paint. I think in Jayson's case specifically these scenes would've been useful. Jayson tends to be emotionally reserved, which I think contributed to his blandness. These scenes could've lifted the veil to his psyche and allowed the reader to fall in love with his inner self more.
All in all, this book is cute. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a cute, nonproblematic and non-toxic romance.

Along for the ride focuses on Jolene and Jason, two people who absolutely despise each other, who end up taking her sister's and his best friend's furniture across state to help them move homes.
This was such an easy, enjoyable, and fun read! I love the character of Jolene, who's fierce and smart, and brave. But hasn't always thought of herself in that way. However, I related the most to Jason, a man who strives for perfection, in every aspect of his life.
The romance was really cute, and I LOVE the enemies to lovers trope. I'm not the type of person who enjoys spicy, or sexual scenes in books, and although this book had quite a bit of the nasty pasty. I understand the reason why it was included, and enjoyed this book fully.
I like the characters, the plot is unique, memorable and original. I would highly, highly recommend it, especially to those of you who are stuck in a slump, as this book certainly cured mine.
