This book was exactly what I'd been feeling like. It is light and fluffy, but with interesting characters and an actual plot. It's a romance without a single sex scene and wherein the only kissing scene involves a frog.
Thanks LLL for giving me this one.

A fun escapist read - a cross of Sex in the City and a grown up Harry Potter world. As long as you are ready to suspend disbelief (4 girls from small town Texas move to NYC and thrive?! and oh yeah, magic exists) and don't mind border-line romance novel territory. Plus, the author is a Firefly fan and listens to Car Talk.
After several more readings, this is by far one of my favorite fantasy series. The magic and world that Swendson built is (mostly) believable, the characters are ones I feel like I could easily be friends with, and there is plenty of humor. I have gotten pretty tired of urban fantasy that takes itself too seriously, of the angsty relationships, and of the "gritty" scenarios full of urban decay and nastiness. Besides, magical heroines who wear leather and date vampires is so over.
This was surprisingly fun and it showcased some of my favorite parts of New York while weaving them cleverly into the book's premise. The book is unnecessarily long and could be trimmed down early to about 60% of it's current size.
Otherwise I found it very enjoyable: the plot is interesting, the characters fascinating and entertaining and the main character is endearing enough for me to want to follow her story.

I love this book. The idea is just so interesting, to have a magically immune character in such a world.
I especially like that they're mixing magic with technology. It seems like too many authors decide that magic is incompatible with the modern world, so this was quite refreshing.
I also really like Katie., though I'm not crazy about her love interests.

I adore this series. Smart and funny with a heroine who comes into her own and doesn't fly off the handle (or into a pot of self-pity) every time her love interest talks to another woman or has to save the world instead of taking her out to dinner? Yes please. (I'm usually too gay or cynical or both to fall for book heroes, but I'll swoon over Owen, too.) Little things that, in a lesser book, would come between the hero and heroine are instead used as a chance for Katie or Owen to recognise that something's not quite right. I found these books during a short-lived romp through the library's chick lit, and I semiseriously contemplated declaring them 'lost' before deciding that it would be a liiiiittle suspicious if I 'lost' an entire series. These days I have my own copies (bought, not stolen from a library), and they're here to stay.
The worst thing is that now that I've finished rereading the series I have to go back to assigned and depressing grad-school reading.

It has been a while since I read a book that I didn't want to put down. This was one. It was a lot of fun. I definitely want to read the next one!
I can't even remember who recommended this series to me. All I know is that I bought the books and then kept putting off reading them. Finally, in the lazy last days of summer, I started the first book, Enchanted, Inc.
This is chicklit for fantasy lovers at its best. Imagine this - Texas gal relocates to New York City and ends up with horrid job and horrid boss. Then, out of the blue one day, a job offer comes through her email without much detail. After deleting the first few instances of said message, girl ends up being enticed into an interview for a very unique company...and all because she has one very unique property...she possesses not even an ounce of magic in her entire body and is tehrefore immune - a perfect fit for verifying legitimacy in a world of magic. Oh ya - did I fail to mention the company that wants her is MSI, Inc...a company who creates and sells magic spells to magical folk?
Katie is soon transported into a very unique job working for no less than Merlin himself, who has been dragged out of his long retirement because of a major crisis. From twarting magical spies to creating a unique marketing campaign - Katie is soon a very integral part of the company. Now, if only she could catch the eye of Owen, one of the wizards working in R&D...
Deep reading, this is not...but for a fluffy and light summer read this is wonderful (this would be perfect for by the pool...I read most of it on a blanket in the courtyard at my work). I enjoyed reading about Katie's adventures and misadventures within the world of magic.
As summer stretches on into indian summer...I think I'm really going to enjoy reading the rest of the series.
Note: I'm not going to review each of the books in this series separately, but I read all four of the books in just a few days and found it hard to put them down. So FUN! Highly reccommend this series for some light, fun reading. I really hope there will be a book 5 that suddenly appears in 2012.

More like 3.5, this book isn’t what I expected but it also wasn’t bad. Kind of a cross between Devil Wears Prada and Harry Potter, it wasn’t super cheesy but don’t expect a piece of literary genius.
