Wow. Loved this book. I’m big on magic schools of any kind, but before Katie Chandler, I’d never considered a magical business. Now that it’s on my radar, though, I’m keeping an eye out for it.
The tone is light and fun, but the magic lends depth to the story. The larger-than-life odds that I read for are present, and it takes place in New York. How isn’t this a win?
Even the side characters are interesting. Rod—wow, problems but such a cool guy. Merlin—that’s so cool. Even Katie’s roommates are awesome. And they’re different people. It’s so frustrating when the main character’s closest friends are clones.
I really connected with evil boss at Katie’s first job. I haven’t had anyone quite that bad, but I’ve definitely had bosses who didn’t like me. I wasn’t sure about the e-mails about a new job opportunity, but in the end, they worked.
The only thing that bugged me was Owen. Katie spends so much time wondering if he’s interested, and I thought it was obvious he was. I spent the book telling her to chill—he liked her. She didn’t listen to me, though, which I suppose was the point.
I’m hooked. I’ve read the rest of the books that exist of this series, and I’ll read any more the author puts out.

Very clever and funny. Creative too. Really like the story and Katie. Didn't love the bad language, thought it was unnecessary, but it didn't make me not want to continue reading.
I enjoyed this lighthearted book. It was unique and refreshing to read and I really liked the main character.
If you loved Harry Potter and like thinking about a magical world that exists without our knowledge, this is an absolutely amazing series. It takes place in New York and it's with adults. Cute, funny, romantic, adventurous, and magical. Love them.
I don’t know why it took so long for me to find this series. I love fantasy and I love fun women’s fiction - this is the best of both those worlds. I’m probably going to binge read all nine books :-)
The magical creatures are the most realistic parts of this book. Even Merlin would roll his eyes at all the "coincidences" and the plot was blah at best. The title doesn't even fit, as the company in the book is MIS.
Smartass gargoyles and coffee that magically appears out of thin air when it's requested? Sign me up! This was a hilarious romp of urban fantasy and I loved it!
This book had potential but, man, it was tough to get though at times. Plain old Katie falls for wizard Owen. ok, some parts are exciting and then it just winds down to...nothing.
I'm really annoyed at myself because I downloaded the entire series (4 books) to my Kindle.
