I remember watching Nanette with no foreknowledge of content. It rocked me to my core.
This is sharply beautiful memoir.

At times tedious but on the whole an enjoyable story. It’s clear Gadsby has overcome much more than the average human and yet attributes her success to luck and circumstance. She’s clearly very intelligent, aware, and talented. Highly recommend it as an audiobook.

I’m a big fan of Hannah Gadsby. This is a rather dry and literal depiction of the 10 steps that led to Nanette. Hannah will be the first to tell you that this is not a fun read and it’s not supposed to be. It’s almost academic in its presentation of a process that was never easy.

Straight forward and unflinching. I, like many others Hannah references in the book, had seen Nanette on Netflix but did not fully understand the trauma or life experiences that shaped the special. I deeply respect the courage it takes to write about the violence, struggles, and misdiagnoses that wrought such internal chaos. Learning more about her life has deepened my empathy for all of the “unseen” constraints that precipitate what might be perceived as erratic, apathetic, or immature behavior. I appreciate her perspective and hope there are plans to write more in the future.
