Like many of you, I have been waiting a very long time for this book to be published. I remember reading the leaked copy 12 years ago and absolutely loving it and then being subsequently depressed because we were never going to get the full version. Finally getting to read this book was an experience. Teenage me absolutely adored this book to pieces. Adult me...has opinions.

First thing I will say is that Edward's POV is very interesting. We get more insight into the minds of other characters and I felt like it helped me understand their actions throughout the story a lot better. I also found Edwards perspective on Charlie to be very interesting. Bella's character was also a lot more interesting from Edwards POV. As expected, this book is VERY angsty because Edward has a lot of self hate, which I kind of understood his reasoning for but after the first 400 pages I couldn't help but roll my eyes every time he mentioned how much of a monster he was.

If you're a fan of the Twilight Saga, I definitely think you will enjoy this. It was interesting to read this as an adult and have a new perspective on it and overall I liked the experience.

Midnight Sun is Stephenie Meyer's gift to Twilight fans. It answers it all those little questions you had about Edward or the plot of Twilight; it gives a wonderful insight into the Cullen family life; and it rounds out Bella's character and makes her much more likeable and relatable.

If you didn't like Twilight, Midnight Sun isn't likely to change your mind - maybe give this one a miss. But if you lovedddd Twilight and never moved away from your 13-year-old self who couldn't put the books down, you need to read this!

Reading this book was enlightening and painful. Seeing the same story but through Edward's eyes makes everything make so much more sense. The ending was especially painful to read from his point of view but I expected that given what I know about the rest of the saga. I highly recommend reading this book after reading Twilight, you can't read them out of order. Stephanie Myer, you've done it again.

DID NOT FINISH: 23%

Whilst I knew Edward was going to be an annoying perspective to read from I was hoping that it was still going to be a fun kind of "hate read". But I was getting too annoyed at him and I disliked how much he was being glorified by the narrative.

I could've really enjoyed it, as he's an unreliable narrator and I enjoyed reading his thoughts spinning out of control when he decided to watch Bella sleep for the first time, if the author had made it clear through the narrative that this his actions and thoughts are wrong/messed up. Instead everything that Bella and Edward do is glorified because Stephenie loves them so much.

It was just too much for me to handle.

I enjoyed this, I just didn't love it.

Edward's perspective was cool, I just think he drones on far too much in his head. The endless self recrimination got old fast.

I did enjoy his perspective on the students and their inane thoughts and petty drama, they annoyed me too Edward, I wouldn't have blamed you if you killed them.

Overall this was fun, it just dragged on way too long.
