Couldn't do it. Even on 2x speed this was still slowly going nowhere. Got to Tr 12 of 33 somehow. I wanted this to be good-bad but it was just bad.
These books are awful but I will watch the first Twilight movie every single time it's on tv. Can't help it.

This is obviously the exact same story as Twilight so there's that element of reading it and knowing what's going to happen that makes it less fun.
Regardless, I really enjoyed getting to read from Edward's perspective, honestly. It's his ability to read minds that made it most interesting for me. Not only were you getting an insight into what Edward was thinking for the first time, but also what everyone else was thinking. That was really the highlight of the book. We also learned a lot more about the Cullens and in particular, Alice's visions because Edward watched them play out in her head.
Edward talks sooooo much though. There were so many times where he'd go off on a huge tangent inside his head and then be like "only a second had passed since Bella asked the question." Huh?? How fast can you think? I think this book was a bit too long but I didn't mind too much.
Also the audiobook was read by Jake Abel who played Luke Castellan in the Percy Jackson movies so I loved that.

Is three stars kind? Yeah, likely.
I finished this book in four or five sittings but was so deeply demoralized between each sitting that it took me almost a full month to read it. This is an astounding 817 pages for literally no reason whatsoever. EVERY TIME I crushed another hundred pages all I could think about was how much more was left.
HOWEVER was it fun? Absolutely it was fun.
Edward is my favourite kind of monster: hot, conflicting feelings of desire, hatred, and hunger, pathetic, and obsessed with a human. The religious guilt is just a bonus honestly. Sue me! It’s my own personal brand of heroin. I love him, I am him, he is me.
So, yeah this worked for me. Overwritten and too long (817??? holy moly Stephanie, think of the children) but also there was a lot of delicious fun to be had.
Unnamed Vampire Play still pending, this was research.

EXVUSE ME Stephanie Meyers ... She added a scene into the book that happened in the movie and not the original book and at a wrong time .... Like nooooo why?!?!
