جميلة اوى وكويس انها مش طويلة لانها كانت هتبقا مملة

This was cute - it’s written in the form of letters from a young college girl to her mysterious and anonymous benefactor who she calls Daddy-Long-Legs because in her one glimpse of him as a silhouette in a car’s headlights he looked really tall and lean and long legged like the spider.
The letters were cute, but i confess i was disappointed by the reveal of the benefactor at the end. It felt a little nonsensical and potentially even dare i say manipulative

Darling little story

I read this in less than a day. It's our next book club book. My mom told me it was the most boring book she had ever read. Not high praise. My expectations were quite low. I felt I should get started if I had to slog through a book that was that awful. However, I loved it. I think I'm a sucker for books in letter form, though. It was charming and innocent and sweet.

Jerusha Abbott (or "Judy" as she prefers to be known!) is an orphan who has been given a tremendous gift: a chance to attend college, made possible only through the generosity of a trustee of her orphan asylum. Her mysterious benefactor (who she's nicknamed Daddy Long Legs, inspired by her only vision of him - his shadow) desires to remain anonymous and requires only a monthly letter from Judy. Her missives tell of victory, defeat, ambition, crushes, and heartbreak. Her final letter tells of her surprising meeting with the man himself.

This story has a bit of everything but it's primarily a coming of age story as Judy grows from naive orphan to confident young authoress. She reminds me of Anne Shirley - full of humor and imagination and wit. She seeks a place and people to belong to - and finds both! It's a sweet story that propels you forward to read "just one more letter..."

Overall an interesting book. Probably the first book I read where it was a series of letters.
It definitely was a book for it's time, given what happens. I also think the writing is still relatively understandable given it was published in 1912.
