تمنيت لو أن الرواية اقرب لسرد الاحداث من سرد الرسائل، لكنها لا تزال ممتعة.

DID NOT FINISH

Heartbreak. Couldn’t bare to read such a charming book about romance when my heart is in pieces. Will definitely read again. I just need a break right now.

Glad I pushed through to finish the book, but it times it was slow. There was some commentary on religion and political theory, but not enough to be bothersome if you don’t agree with her sentiments. Very funny…lots of commentary about the lack of rights of women as well.

A classic of the genre of coming-of-age stories, told in epistolary form. If you don't love happy-go-lucky Jerusha, self-named Judy, and her mysterious Daddy Longlegs, you're dead imo. A quick read and a feelgood-book.

كتاب سهل، سريع، خفيف و فكاهي. استمتعت بقرائته كثيراً. سعدت لان الكتاب استرجع ذكرياتي بأيام الطفولة

An orphan, raised since birth in a dreary institution, is sent to college by an anonymous benefactor, who also provides her with a generous allowance so that she can be “on terms of equality” with the other students. She is to send regular letters to her benefactor and that is what the novel consists of. She describes her friends, her clothes, her activities, etc. There is very little in the way of conflict; things flow pretty smoothly for Judy. It’s a sweet book but rather dated, of course, and it’s frankly not as interesting as other classic girls’ novels like the Ann of Green Gables series. There’s also a kind of peculiar blurring of the paternal and romantic (which seems not uncommon in older novels).
