My first ever book by Haley Jenner. I am so excited to tell you guys about this book. Wohoooo

This was such a good book and the spice was *chef’s kiss*! This fast-paced, age gap, mafia romance was something else. I love the chemistry between Vincent and Bianca, The spice was top tier and I loved the dirty talking. There were places in the story that didn’t work for me.

This book was narrated by Desiree Ketchum and Aiden Snow. I loved Desiree’s narration throughout the book and the few chapters that Aiden had were also well done. I wish there were more chapters narrated by Aiden.

  • I read this surprisingly quick after being in the Tessa Bailey rut
  • Isn’t my favourite mafia romance - I felt icky at the age gap (18 year old with a 30 year old)
  • Felt like there wasn’t a massive plot, not mad that it was very short
  • I was hooked to read the book but not necessarily connected to the characters
  • Will read the others in the series, not likely to jump to read anything by the author
  • Wish there was more angust and hate

I love this writing duo. I've devoured their books. So, imagine my surprise and excitement when I discovered that there was a new book coming out. However, that was short lived. I wanted so much to fall in love with this book. It just didn't happen.

The premise and promise of this book was there. Yet, the storyline and the degradation/humiliation aspect to Vincent was just weird. Normally I'm a fan of that but this just seemed weird in the context of the story, and in all honesty, it weakened the actual good parts of the story.

That being said, I did enjoy the world. So, the authors did their job in getting me invested and curious about the secondary characters in this world.

I just wish this wasn't so quick on the romance front

• Thoughts:
This was my first Harley Jenner book, and I will definitely be reading more. I enjoyed the story, the characters, and the world that was created. I was hooked, and the story held my attention from start to finish. Can't wait to dive into book 2.

Narrator Thoughts:
Thos was Dual Narration, and Desiree Ketchum and Aiden Snow are the narrators. They, of course, were amazing narrators! Zero complaints.  What made it lose a rating was it was Mai ly Desiree narrating. Now I am not complaining. I love her, but one small chapter ND the epilogue for Aidens part??? I feel that when this happens, it should just say with a cameo by. So I felt it was not dual. It should have been First Person POV.

”I love you to the point of obsession.”

This was a solid 3.5 stars. At the beginning I really did enjoy this and saw it being a 5 star read but I just lost touch with it. There was just too many things that had me cringing.

The first being that “Vinnie” was a term of endearment and it’s honestly not even fair of me to cringe at that but I did. When Leo scoffed at the nickname I laughed so hard because that was so relatable.

I love dirty talk and fuck me Vincent’s dirty talk is 100% on point except for when he refers to Bianca’s *inset cat emoji* as she/her. Sorry it was one thing for Bianca herself to refer to her c!it as “her” but both of them? Nope. I’m done. That killed the mood real quick for me.

It was also the way Bianca said “I love you” 51% into the book. Generally the only way I’d accept that was if this were a second chance trope book and they were already in love once but the fact she just said it so early… please I couldn’t handle it.

Also, I think the thing that made me give this 3 stars was Bianca’s completely overbearing, territorial attitude towards Vincent. She was so out of line with Trixie/Krista and Gabriella. Especially Gabriella. She just assumed Vincent was sleeping with Gabbi even though he told her he wasn’t and acted like a complete psycho bitch. Jealously was not a good look on her.

I have to say I did enjoy the smut. As I already said, I love good dirty talk so that aspect of the book was definitely not lacking. Plus I can’t say no to a good age gap romance. I really liked Vincent but he didn’t stand out enough for me to love this book. Leo was probably one of my favourite characters. Funny and charming. All in all, it was a decent read. After all, I am trash for anything mafia related.
