The House in the Cerulean Sea is one my all time favorite novels. While I enjoyed reading this book, I don't feel like it lived up to the first book of the series. It was cozy, wholesome and the characters were as loveable as ever. It discussed difficult topics and it has very relevant messages. However, I felt like the storyline itself was all over the place and as such it wasn't as enjoyable of a reading experience as the previous book.

God did I need a read like this. It’s been a hard time to exist the past few months. It was so hopeful and light at times I found myself gazing adoringly at the pages much like I’d expect Arthur to do. 

The complexities of this book feel like a mirror to many of the difficulties we’re facing today in the world (especially the US) and I found the sense of community and togetherness in this story inspiring. Will add this book to my pile of “in case of the Bad Times™ : Break Glass”
