This was a story that I wish I had had when I was younger, even though I really struggled in algebra, etc in high school. Themes of not just, "of course girls can STEM" but also, figuring out what you want in life. I think that is an incredibly valuable message. We are often pressured to know what we want to do at 18, period. I am glad this YA book is here to spread the message that that doesn't have to be true, no matter what outside pressures might be saying.

Cute and lighthearted read. Nothing so crazy, but I enjoyed it anyway. Jamie and Dash are my favorite characters.

i loved this!!! it's my first YA novel in probably a decade and i'm so glad i picked it up

1. the writing! i loved that there were distinct voices for bel and teo that matched their character. that sounds stupid to say but you'd be surprised to hear about the disconnect between character and narration in many books, even in first person POVs. i loved that bel was so witty and funny.

2. i always love it when authors portray just how progressive teens can be these days. it's just also bleak how they've had to "grow up mentally" in that way and feel the stress of the world at an early age because the crisis is only worsening and the contradictions between powers sharpening.

3. i can't deny that i relate to the characters' language more because i'm also gen z albeit older (27 in 2025) but i loved that dash of familiarity and what is basically realism for me.

4. also i've been reading romance novels for a while now and it wasn't until this book that i realized that many millennial authors of contemporary romance don't really care enough to connect the language to their characters, like a millennial author will write a 24-year-old in 2025 and make her talk like she grew up in the 90s. it's just hard to suspend my disbelief sometimes. "i was born in the wrong generation" can only go so far. so i appreciate alexene farrol follmunth's dedication to accuracy.

5. i also can't suspend my disbelief sometimes when CR authors leave out the prevalence of social media in daily life. this book does it so well, but others not so much. like people have ended friendships over LIKES. you can't just make every character go "oh, i'm just not into social media.

6. as a filipino, thank you. i'm not fil-am, but i got excited when it was revealed that bel was filipino. there wasn't much portrayal of culture and i thought the lumpia was overkill (i might be biased because lumpia is hit or miss for me lol), but i always love a good filipino FMC. surprisingly romance authors don't write us as main characters enough, probably because most romance authors are white women. i get the hesitation to write outside your culture.

7. love a good filipino-latino couple!!! culture cousins. it was funny when teo made the sign of the cross without a second thought and bel being surprised about it.

8. maybe i'm just jaded, but it was a little hard to believe they stayed together in those 2 years, but i guess teo is just one of those rare men.

9. i truly missed the brightness of first love and a good YA novel

10. narrators did so well, loved their performance. they really captured the "teen voice."

11. i hope young girls who read this learn to take up the space they deserve :)

dit was zo een leuke cute nerdy ya romance. loved de feministische aspecten en Taylor Swift mentions. de third act break-up was wel een typische teen break-up, didn’t really like it.

“I know that win or lose, Teo Luna and I are made of a strong foundation. What he and I have together is the best thing we’ve ever built.”

This was so much better than what I expected. I wanted something cute, wholesome and endearing and this book delivered everything. The pacing was a bit slow which just made this book a bit boring and there was too much robot-building talking and mechanical engineering. Though I had no problem with it because Bel and Teo were just so adorable

Oh. My. Goodness. This book is actually so amazing. I relate almost completely to Bel (
minus the cheating dad and
minus the love for engineering and robotics) with her style, personality and WOO PHILIPINA REPRESENTATION!!
I do love how Bel and Teo acted around each other, convincing themselves that they didn't have a crush on each other
AND THE KISS, OH MY GOSH IT WAS MAGICAL.
. I found everything super cute. It's been a while since I actually smiled to hard from a book that I needed to scream into a pillow. It was the little things as well. Actually listening to what each other are saying, especially for a teen romance book, is pretty rare in books these days :(. Every action that they had with each other throughout the book
(maybe apart from the temporary breakup)
was so genuinely the purest form of love that I've ever heard of.
I also love the friends in this book, Jamie, Lora and Dash are absolutely amazing.
I was lowkey scared shitless that they would try and make Dash and Bel into a couple, because they seemed like AMAZING friends. Brother and sister even. They matched each others energy so well, and you could really tell that they had a strong platonic love for each other.
I wish that Dash did in fact appear in more scene's, but that may just be a me-thing.
If you really like fluffy teen romance and you want another book that you wish you were in, you should 100% read this. I will stand on this grave until my body is dragged off, and even then, I will still long for it again.

I listened to this one as an audiobook and I’m glad I did. The plot was simple enough to keep up but still enjoyable and engaging. I thought the slow burn between mcs could have been a little better, especially the slight enemies to lovers bit. The feminist women in stem theme was very on the nose but understandably so. It brought me back to my days in computer science and almost made me want to build a robot…idk about the latter. All in all I’d say it’s a pretty decent closed door romance.

Talk about cheesy nerd stuff! These two, man. This was different from most books I read and I loved it! Robotics and all that good stuff and love!
