This was a fast read considering the number of words per page. Do not be fooled by the 272-page disclaimer. It’s kinda long if you see the font size.

Okay! Wow, so proud of myself for reading this book in one day. Well, for the record, I didn't get that much job done. Hehe.

The story is very well-written and tackles issues that real highschoolers-well, in this day and age-struggle with, especially women. Pressure that comes from really big expectations, little to no regard for women (in the engineering field) and family problems. How Alexene delves into these struggles is done in a way that is borderline young adult and adult. I love that there were no toxic characters, and that problematic actions and attitudes were given development at the end.

All in all, a refreshing read for 2022!

it's your typical cheesy teenage romance which means I loved it

It was super cute. A neutral read for me.

Thank you netgalley for an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It´s actually like a 4.8.

I really really love this book, like from the firsts moments to the end. Idk if it is because the characters are in my range of age, but I actually connected with them, I can even say that each character has something of me in them. But I specially connected with Bel and Teo, because I´m a strange mix of them.

AND THE STORY, I love this type of books, every second that I spent in this book was amazing, idk why I had the idea of this being a rivals to lovers but it´s not. I would say that actually it is a cute strangers to colleagues to friends to lovers and it´s a good one. I also love how we can see the pressure that everyone lives in the last year before university and how teenagers actually worried about doing good at school and about satisfying our parents.

The only warning I have is that there’s a good bit of technical talk regarding robots and science, that can be hard to understand.

Relectura 2023
Sigo amando esto como la primera vez

A super cute coming of age romance. I did find this a little hard to get into but it was definitely worth the read in the end!

I loved the STEM representation in this book. As a female who works in STEM I know the struggles of trying to stand out amongst a lot of smart people - I know how much it means to have someone believe in you.

I’ve felt like Bel, not knowing my own way (to be honest, I’m still a bit lost) and I resonated with her. I loved her development. I loved how it wasn’t all smooth sailing. And I loved how she wasn’t ‘perfect’.

I also resonated with Teo. While I just said that I didn’t know my own way, I am definitely someone who has big plans (I just don’t know how to get there yet!) and I’m always a perfectionist and a people-pleaser and I just like to fix.

I don’t really know what I was expecting with this book but I definitely enjoyed it and would’ve loved to have read it as a teenager.

3.75/5

The way this book tries to handle the misogyny in STEM sometimes hurt to read it was so unbelievable
Also they were literally never academic rivals

i will never read this book bec high school romance and I AM IN COLLEGE

It was cutesy and enjoyable but by god was it hard to imagine the engineering and robotics they were building. I’m someone who lives for imagery and some chapters just lacked the descriptions of the robots they were building etc.

Love all the things that I learnt from this book!
