Quite the fun romp of a book that had me learning quiet a few new words. Quick to read, even if I found parts to be repetitive (have a drink whenever the silence is mentioned) and the parodying of stereotypes don't always work (ends up coming off as sexist and racist at some parts) but I found the worldbuilding in this to be an improvement over the earlier novels (I really like how the clear parallel between magic and radiation is further explored here and I hope it appears in later books too).

There were also more moments here that made me laugh hard so that's certainly an improvement.

Rincewind is great as always but I was kinda disappointed that his companions didn't really do much by the end. Also how the luggage doesn't really get much to do here either (though its scenes were humourous).

This was fun but I wouldn't say its in the top of my favourites from this series.

I probably wouldn't have ever picked up this book myself, but a coworker recommended the author and loaned me a copy of this one. Pratchett has written a ton of books in this world and they're all interconnected but you don't have to read them chronologically. Overall I liked the use of satire and humor, and the writing style is very clever. Some parts were slow and maybe a little boring/flat, but overall enjoyable.

There's some things to enjoy in Sourcery but the weaker parts make it harder to recommend over some of Pratchett's later work. The ending is the most interesting part with a lot of more thought-provoking ideas going on and a more character-driven story. Unfortunately the rest of the book is just all-right, to me. I didn't enjoy the side characters all that much and even though most of the comedy landed, it doesn't challenge stereotype and perception as cleverly as his later works do. I think that was the main issue for me - I've read how smart his later work is, and this has the markings of it but never quite gets where I feel it could've gone!

It's still a well-written, enjoyable book, but it won't be the first I turn to for a Pratchett re-read. Still an interesting, unique story.
