Doing a disc world reread, seeing the early stuff is fun and instructive but can't wait to get to my faves

Great fun!

The first Pratchett I’ve ever actually read - my wife is slightly addicted to them and I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed the clips of the audio books I hear her listening to. (Perversely I have read the excellent, very funny and deeply, deeply moving biography of Sir Terry by Rob Wilkins, and watched the 3 Sky films.)

She’s determined I shall join her in this addiction and I’m not up for resisting

- Not great; wouldn't re-read.
- Probably wouldn't recommend.
- Probably will read the rest of the series.

Not my favorite of the Rincewind-focused novels thus far. Conina & Nijel were great. Coin felt very flat, only having personality near the end. I'm surprised Pratchett thought people should start with this one.

3.5 stars

I read this mostly on audiobook. I didn't like the voices of the bursar and the Seraphim. They were unpleasant to hear.

I hope Coin found happiness (and company). His tale is quite dark.

I wonder what happens to Nigel and Conina? I liked how he learned to stand up for himself. I didn't like how he treated her at the end.

The Apocalypse and Apocryphal Pune is excellent.

The luggage wasn't quite so blood thirsty and malevolent before. More just protective.

I love the lore of this book and world so much. The idea of a sorcerer being a fount of magic (or source) is such a neat twist on the delineation between that and Wizards. And again the main characters (some new some old) are all very enjoyable despite the distance that I think Pratchett likes to keep from the souls of his world.

Rincewind is fun, but my least favourite of the Discworld books, generally. Its still a really solid read though, but Dicworld is a tough company to be in lol.. mostly, not enough of Luggage.
