Everyone needs healing.

Wyatt and Kai...what a story. This book was heartwrenching, emotional, beautiful, and steamy. Can we say...ALL THE FEELS? Wyatt's a wounded soldier in more ways than one, running from his past that keeps invading his thoughts and dreams. Kai is running as well, blaming himself for something that he feels is his fault. The two meet and it's a growly exchange, but they continue to secretly go out of their way to bump into each other. This tortured souls love story is one that is packed with both emotion and heat. After everything Wyatt and Kai have endured, their HEA is one to root for!

Sweet love story

Kai and Wyatt both have demons to slay and when they find each other they also find the strength to do so.
A cute quick read. :)

I really enjoyed this book. I think it was the first book I've read by a male author but I makes sense for a man to write an mm book cuz what do we know but anyway... I loved Kai helping Wyatt recover from his PTSD. Good lord I felt so bad for Wyatt. He literally had no one helping him (except Avery and Elizabeth who he wouldn't let help as much as they could have) for the past four years since holding as he got blown to pieces and captured.

I wish we got more background of when he was captured and the book was longer but other then that it really liked it.

And Kai had me confused. I thought he killed someone by accident in a car accident but I understood his guilt it just could have been worse.

3.5 stars - It was alright

This is my first book from this author and I was actually intrigued by the second book, but wanted to read the first book just to get a feel of the writing and story. I generally don't sway towards these types of stories since I like it to be more lighthearted, but I certainly wasn't against it and I wanted to give the series a go.

Wyatt suffers from PTSD from his past and tried to live with it everyday, facing past demons. Kai has run away from his own past, hoping to find a place that would being him happiness. One day the pair stubble upon each other and form an instant connection that grows with them getting to know and learn about each other.

Generally, this book was a good size, it can be read in a couple of hours which I love. The story is also very fast paced, which again, i love. In the case of this book, the pacing was good, but the story felt rushed. There were a lot of gaps in between events, like for example, there was a mention of them texting for weeks and getting to know each other, but we never get to see that. And because of that, I felt very out of tune with the characters, i didn't feel thier chemistry the way i thought I should and the way I wanted to.

I think the author did a great job with the subjects of guilt and PTSD throughout the story and a greater part of this book was focused on that rather than the romance. The relationship between the characters helped each character to fight thier demons and to acknowledge their own pasts, and was made to be the most important part of the book.

I'm definitely continuing the series, the next book is based at the Winter Olympics, and at the time of this review, the Winter Olympics are ongoing so the timing is perfect! Plus I kind of got used to the writing style if the author and enjoyed this book enough to continue!

Trust, patience and love are the key ingredients of this amazing story set in San Juan Islands and Hawaii to make it even more endearing.

Wyatt was an ex-Marine who was discharged after getting injured in Afghanistan. He suffers from PTSD and isolates himself from the world thinking he is a broken man, and he is better off alone. He has his work and best friends around him, but not even that can ease his tormented self.
Kai is an architect who decided to leave his beloved Hawaii behind and, with it, his nightmares, starting a new life in San Juan Islands. Little did he know that wherever he goes his past and problems will always be with him. Besides everything he had been through, he never let go of his sweet and caring nature, becoming a beacon in Wyatt's life.

It’s a beautiful and heartwarming story of two battered souls, trying to run away from their pasts and finding each other. Little by little, as they let their walls crumble and start falling in love, their healing begins, and they can be whole again, dreaming about a future together.

The story is full of trials for Wyatt and Kai, as they need to fight for their love, but also with lots of adventure and great time between them to leave you hot and bothered, and in need of an icy shower. Their story is sexy and steamy, and Garry Michael's writing is full of romance and swooning. I finished the book a while ago and I’m still on cloud nine.
