Cute. Romance part was cute, but the main focus was on Amelia and her love for the icecream stand and wanting the best for it, no matter who stood in the way. I'm glad that Amelia has figured out what she wants to do with her life and is happy doing it.

I really ended up enjoying this book! The whole atmosphere and traditions of Meade Creamery are so well developed and created such a vibrant and fun setting. I loved Amelia as a main character, and all of the struggles that she faces seemed realistic. I loved the relationship between her and Cate and Grady, but I do wish that more was included of her and the other stand girls, since it stressed the incredible and permanent relationships formed between all of the girls so much, but we barely even learned their names or saw much of them. I thought that the ending to the book was very well done. The drama and fun of this story made it a very fun and entertaining read.

3.5 This book was full of cute, lightheartedness, and nostalgia-for-a-time-you-didn't-live-during. Was it rushed? Yes. Did the romance kinda come from absolutely? Also yes. Was the best friend completely nonredeemable and non-deserving of so much of the main character's thoughts and feelings? Bingo. But like, I really wish I had worked at an all-girl ice cream stand during high school summers... And I really want ice cream...

I ended up DNFing this book. It just wasn't my favorite and was forcing myself to read very very slowly.

A nice YA book about a summer ice cream stand and those that have to figure out running it after the owner dies. Reminds you to stay true to yourself and follow your dreams. As someone who has managed businesses, though, this place is an OSHA nightmare, but I'm not sure that matters in the YA world :-)

This book was slow to start off with and I found Amelia to be a bit wishy-washy. I loved the diary entries from Molly Meade that were interspersed throughout the story about her life during the last year of World War II and the start of what would be her business venture. I almost gave up on this book but once Grady Meade enters the story and takes over the ice cream stand, the story really picks up as Amelia comes into her own. Not without problems and confrontations, Amelia’s and Grady’s summer is a sweet story about standing up for what you believe in.

I love the background story of Molly Meade opening a ice cream stand and how it became her passion and love while her fiance went to war. At first it was only a way to get the girls together and be happy and a distraction from all the worries for the guys at war. But it bloomed to more. And we discover secrets no one knows other then for her friend, Tiggy!

On the other hand, Ameilia is ready for her 4th summer working in Meade Creamery with her best friend Cate before they both goes off for college. Ameilia and Cate are planning to make it the best summer yet! But... things don't always work to your advantage and that is the case here.

After Molly Meade's death, they were all expected Meade Creamery to shut down due to no relatives alive but apparently not. No one expected a 19 year old (her grand nephew, Grady) to take over and that when it got interesting!

I love the flow of this book and all those mentions of ice cream really made me want some! The special recipe Home Sweet Home sounds amazing?! I love the secret ingredient they used. Though the book was pretty predictable, it was a very pleasant read.

I enjoy Grady and Ameilia's romance. I'm happy Cate and Ameilia patched things up before they left off for college. I was expecting a big betray from Cate and I am glad it didn't came. I totally did not expect this turn of event where she took over the business.

What upsets me the most is the ending! The ending fell a little flat. I was expecting a chapter of where she comes back and see how her business is running and her blossoming romance with Glady. None of that! It ends abrupting in an old food truck! I would really like a new ending or sequel!!
