Holyyyyy man, I loved this book! These books give me so many intense and conflicting emotions, one chapter I can be crying from happiness but the next I'll be sobbing out of sadness or anger and this one gave me so so so many feels! I love all of these characters so much and it was amazing to see how much character growth they've all gone through! Ruby was effing badass in this book (though sometimes frustrating), I'm so so proud of Zu gosh I love her, I really felt for Cole in this book and got so attached to him damn it, and Vida and Chubs's banter was hilarious and I love them to death! And Liam <33333 I love him to death ugh he's perfect!

It was an awesome conclusion and I'm happy and satisfied with how it ended! This was one of my most anticipated releases and I'm so glad I can say it didn't disappoint me one bit!

NO NO NONONONONONONONONONONONOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The series is over and I am about to cry! This whole experience was amazing and I'm gonna read it over right now.
*crying*

once again Alexandra Bracken did a FABULOUS job on this last book. When I look at how much Ruby changes throughout the books, it really is so memorable and amazing! she changes from someone so shy and scared to a fearless bold young women who can accomplish anything! The relationship with Ruby and Liam throughout this book made me want to cry at some parts as they aren't exactly perfect at first! I loved the ending and was absolutely devastated when it was over! This is a series I'll keep with me forever, I just love it so much!

i cried.

it was so good though it was a stellar conclusion

Finally, a trilogy with an ending that for the most part I have no complaints about.

What a ride. The second book hyped me up so much that I flew through this so fast, even tho for me this was my least favourite. Still a 4 star read. Even though I am fed up with the YA dystopian subgenre at this point, this series made me realize sometimes it's not about the most original plot, but the author's skills with it.

A great end to a very enjoyable series, but still not quite five stars.

The Darkest Minds trilogy moves at a really quick clip. Though Ruby’s life with The Children’s League was just beginning in Never Fade, it’s already over. The criminals in the league have turned on the Psi just as a falsified attempt on the President’s life gives him an excuse to brutally attack the society that’s protected them. The Psi who survived must now find their way out of the heavily guarded city to a former league stronghold, The Ranch. But thanks to her gift, she knows that even the remaining agents “protecting” the children have nefarious plans.

Ruby is trying to do right by everyone, but soon discovers it’s an impossible task. Almost all the remnants of the league and the Psi they scout out along the way agree that their mission is to save the imprisoned Psi. They all just have different ways of going about it. Ruby wants to find Lillian Gray and the cure. Liam wants to rile up the nation through the underground media. Cole just wants to keep the kids safe, but has a special hope to liberate the Reds affected by Project Jamboree. All of them want to free the imprisoned, but the methods for doing so won’t be easy.

In The Afterlight is not as heavy on the action as either of its predecessors, but this story finally unravels the mystery of how Psi abilities came to be and what can be done to stop it. Still, I found myself wishing there was a little more heart-pounding drama at points. Characters went on missions, but the story is from the point of Ruby, who mainly sat around worrying and took care of their prisoner, Clancy.

Clancy really got to me in this story. The team could use him as leverage, but they don’t. And despite his horrendous track record of manipulating others and getting people killed, Ruby rarely questions his actions and Cole starts to genuinely trust him. Whaaaat? His actions in this book are more atrocious than any of the other books combined and though I rarely wish for this in books.. WHY DOESN’T ANYBODY KILL THIS BASTARD?! He’s a terrible person, not just a corrupt Psi, with zero redeeming qualities even in the end. I wanted him dead. Clearly I’m kinda cruel re: fictional characters but oh well.

I also wanted more of the sweet character interactions from the other books in this one. Not to say we didn’t get any, but they’re further between. However, there is one scene with Ruby, Liam, Chubs, and Vida that kind of made my life (I STILL SHIP IT SO HARD!) Also, the return of a character very dear to my heart lightened the mood significantly at times. There was just a lot of petty argument filler that was realistic but overdone.

The book ended on a really strong note full of grit, action, and fun. I wish more of the story reflected that and that the epilogue showed us more than the immediate aftermath, but it was still a great journey and I am seriously going to miss these characters!
medium-paced

Contrary to the second part "Never fade", this book does connect to the previous book.

In "In the afterlight", Ruby sets out across the country with her new and old friends. They have been sent on a mission by the Children's Alliance, which is coming under increasing pressure. This because of the threats from President Gray. Their goal is to get all children out of the camps.
Will they manage to get the last children out of Thurmond?

The book is a combination of the first and second parts because it takes place both in the camps and at the children's alliance.
The end became increasingly obscure.
I personally did not find out whether their mission was successful or not.

I am looking forward to the film of this triology that will be released August 3, 2018.
