Just a great culmination of the BLOODSHOT and HARBINGER series. Sets up so much for the future of Valiant. Highly recommended.

Just a great crossover event. I love when a publisher works so hard on a series to maintain continuity. Unlike a Marvel or DC volume, they include all the different titles in one big release, in the order of the event. At times there is backtracking to show the perspective of an event from the titular series viewpoint, but that only adds to the narrative quality. The artwork helps maintain differences between dozens of different characters which is no small feat. Overall, just terrific, horrific, bloody and well done.

I'm rating the deluxe edition because I read this book's contents across the three trades whose material comprises it.

Let me try that again.

When Valiant does a large crossover, they will publish the individual issues in event order, including as the series come out for that month. Then each series will get its trade paperback comprising its portion of the event, which generally works for standalone purposes but it's clear there are perspectives missing from the action. Then a thorough deluxe edition like this one comes out and binds all the issues together in the correct order, providing maximum story coherence and satisfaction.

And Valiant crossovers have been pretty great! On each side of the conflict, people believe themselves to be the put-upon champion of a cause while everyone else is an obstacle to be avoided/defeated. Even when an issue of one series recaps an event that just happened in a previous issue, everything still flows together nicely. This review is more or less an endorsement of a style of publishing instead of an actual review of the content, but that's because I really like the format!

Lots of back story that kind of explains where some of the threads from the previous two volumes have come from, but more angsty young man than I really want to read. Also some interesting contrasts between expectations and reality, and how people often don't think about the complexities of how a situation will play out, because they don't necessarily have enough information.

I would give this 3.5 stars if I could.

Continues the story of Peter Stanchek and his band of renegades, all with psychic powers and on the run from Toyo Harada, the man who wishes to use their powers to his own ends.

This volume acts as background to The Harbinger Wars, the first crossover for the re-formed Valiant Comics.

In 1969, Harada's company tries to make a deal with Project Rising Spirit, an organization that somehow knows his secrets.

It doesn't go well.

In the present, the renegades follow Peter to Vegas, where they meet more people with abilities and fight Bloodshot.

I'm enjoying this book. The art is always solid, and the story has a great "us against the world" vibe.

This is not a good starting point. It adds a lot of background to the story, and things aren't explained for new readers much.

Two dozen undisciplined, untested, and untrained superhuman children have just escaped from a top-secret research facility and into the world. When Bloodshot, Toyo Harada, and Peter Stanchek join the chase, will the Valiant Universe be ready for its first all-out superhuman showdown?

This was Valiant's first crossover, and, all in all it went well. It offered a great action. It also made Harbinger Volume 3 make a lot more sense, as it was about the events of Harbinger Wars.

This even made Bloodshot, a character I don't really care for, interesting.
