Another great title Kresley Cole, with excellent world building, believable and dynamic characters. Fun read!

This is probably the most frustrating book of KC.

And still, I love it.

I love how mysterious Dacians are. The way of their life is surreal. I was so curious about how their mist worked and so far, this book was kinda enlightening.

The characters were all fairly interesting. They have their high and low points.

The heroine is just so plain stubborn. She's dense and all she cared for was herself (At first) and getting what she wants. She wants her best childhood friend to be her man. Unfortunately, the guy couldn't even give her the time of the day. He's just too busy being his happy-go-lucky self too pay any attention to his long time friend. I kinda understand why she may have confused her feelings with that guy at first but continuing to do so in the middle was sooo frustrating I could just cry for Trehan. It's a good thing though that she changed her mind and heart near the end or else I would've strangled her character.

It's a good thing that the hero is a very very patient man/vamp. He took his time being sweet and loyal to Bettina even at times wherein she did not deserve it. He helped her out at every turn. His jealousy to me, was kinda reasonable up to a point. It went chaotic at the conflict part but I'm happy about how they were able to resolve it. I was so happy at what he was able to achieve at the end of this book. At least now, he wouldn't be all alone in that library of his. ;)

Plot = 10. It really is, mesmerizing, reading about Morgana, Salem, etc. I sure hope that Salem could also have his own story. =)

I'm not sure that The Dacians can really exist as a separate series from the original IAD -- this book intersects and overlaps so heavily with both Lothaire and Dark Skye I don't know how you could claim they are outside that continuity.

Either way, I greatly enjoyed Trehan and Bettina. The tournament, while fundamentally a strange set-up -- why would Raum allow his kingdom to potentially come under the rule of hostile forces AND why would either Raum or Morgana be willing to sacrifice Bettina's future to be tied to a hostile force? -- provides a driving plot, while also setting up the elements for several future books. I also enjoyed the deeper insight into the Daciano family, seen briefly in Lothaire.

My second time rereading this series. I absolutely love it.

I love Kresley Cole's writing. This book doesn't disappoint. It brings it all, fun, action, love and hotness.

Bettina the demoness/sorceress and Trehan the Darcian vampire has many obstacles to overcome. It's not easy to find out that you have blooded a vampire and become his bride when you think you love some one else. Trehan has his work cut out for him to convince Bettina that she should be with him.

4.5 stars. My e-copy from the library had a crap ton of previews for another book at the end, so watch the chapter count. I was 80% in and the book ended, leaving 20% of previews. It was ready to end, but I was annoyed the page count was so incorrect.

The one with Trehan Daciano and Bettina Queen of Hearts. This is the first IAD I have read and not listened to and I got through it much faster. I liked that these 2 actually liked each other after Bettina got over her crush on her best friend (who it was implied might be gay?). This overlapped with Lothaire so I knew they must have had some big argument/misunderstanding that separated them eventually. This tees up the next 2 books with Munro and Lanthe's stories.
