Ara verince karakterleri unutmuşum biraz. Bir de hepsinin bir unvanı, kazandıkları isimler de eklenince kim kimdi gitti bende
I started this book on my way to Lanthe’s book. Kresley Cole really made the Vrekener Clan such an evil beings. I hope she delivers when it comes to Thronos and Lanthe’s book. As for Shadow’s Claim, Trehan, the tournament, Salem, Morgana, and Raum kept me interested in this one. Didn’t really care for Bettina that much but it seems like Trehan wanted someone to protect since that is whole thing. Anyways, on the next one.
I really enjoyed this book up until the last 70% when this vampire also became controlling and abusive. Nope. Uh-huh. No more reading the vampire books by KC.
Oh no! Everyone hates Bettina.
Here's my perspective on her: she is very young, and she is treated like shit by all of her elders. They treat her like a moron, they lie to her, she's supposed to be the queen but they belittle her constantly. She has no independence except with her art, which all her relatives are condescending to her about. Her godmother calls her freakling! Caspion is the only one who has ever been a friend to her, he tried avenging her and failed and basically had to leave the kingdom because of that. Then he comes back with his tail between his legs and about to be assassinated so of course she thinks she loves him! This whole book takes place over the span of like a week, so I'm not exactly surprised she takes a while to warm up to Trehan.
I loved that she was so mortified that he would see her through her memories, but his understanding of her ends up building trust between them. Other than Cas, he is the only person who doesn't talk down to her, and it takes her a minute to realize that. And he loves her artwork and her perspective. I just feel like Bettina is very young and has a lot of trauma, it's ok for her to take a week to warm up to Trehan even if he has forsaken his entire kingdom for her. That's on him. Both characters had a lot of growth in the book. Trehan has had like 900 years of fighting with his Dacian cousins in stupid feuds, I think the fact that he has to accept Cas as part of her life is a good thing-- dude needs to learn about not making drama with everyone.
Secondary characters in this book are hilarious, Morgana and the sylph and of course Lothaire shows up. And lord knows I love a tournament. I loved this one.

Entertaining...fun, but nothing more. I did not particularly like the fact that the female protagonist is yet another damsel in distress needing a protector to save her, also from herself. However at least she's improving by mid book onwards.
Like with all books in this series I just skip the spicy
I was surprised to see that we jumped straight into a spin-off series about the Dacians. Trehan is an assassin vampire known as the Prince of Shadows. He's also one of Lothaire's cousins. During one of his hunts, he comes across his mate, Bettina, a gold smithing sorceress.
However, Bettina's heart and hand are not so easy to claim. For one, Bettina fancies herself in love with her demon best friend, Caspion. And on top of that, her suitors have to fight each other in a contest to win her hand in marriage. And of course, Trehan joins the contest.
Okay, this book is honestly great for the most part. I LOVE the set up so much and Trehan is so sexy 🥵 Bettina has some cool unique powers and I appreciate her journey with facing her fears and taking the necessary steps to alleviate her trauma. That being said, I would be lying if I said I loved Bettina. As many reviewers have already pointed out, Bettina's one-sided crush on Caspion was incredibly irritating. And I hate that the third act conflict was all about freaking Caspion, who is actually the worst 🤢
Honestly, take away Caspion, and I would've given this book a much higher rating. I was patient for the most part, but the third act conflict with all the Caspion drama left a bad taste in my mouth 🤢 I simply couldn't believe that the Caspion conflict kept going until the end. It really pissed me off.
P.S. Salem the phantom reminds me of Spike 😂😂😂😂
