I continue to thoroughly enjoy this middle grade mystery series! They are just the sort of fast, light reading I need in this month of moving stress, when heavier fare would be too much. This one was heavily influenced by Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express, which I have never read. I think it might be time...

4.5 stars- was going to rate it 4 but I really do love this series! What’s not to adore about a murder on the orient express (inspired by Mrs Christie). There are so many twists and turns and I find it amazing how the adults always make huge mistakes. I will have to get my hands on book 4 as soon as possible

This is a strong entry in a really great series. I enjoyed the mystery itself. It was both difficult to solve and really obvious once it is solved so that was perfect. Where this book was less than perfect came to the development of the rest of the plot. Throughout this book adults try to keep Hazel and Daisy from solving the mystery. Then at the end they have a rather abrupt change of heart. It wasn’t well developed. But this was still a wonderful book. The setting is utterly delightful and the novel deals with racism, anti-semitism, and xenophobia in a way that is both thoughtful and child-appropriate. Definitely recommended to fans of the series, though if you’re new to the Wells & Wong books you’ll want to start with the first one.
