When I tell you that I went from passed out cold on my couch to Katy Perry Wide Awake when I started reading this book- I am not lying. This. Was. A. Page. Turner.
The new villain is repulsively wicked and brought so much friggin excitement to this book.
This book had my temperature rising for many reasons. It had me stressed AF, excited, frustrated, and smirking for days (knowwhatimean

What a ride! Definitely was afraid of the second book after loving A King So Cold, but Ella Fields delivered it with an amazing storyline, with the characters I fell in love with, twists and angst that had me reading through the night non-stop. Audra and Zadicus two characters I won't forget, such a strong and refreshing heroine and a book boyfriend that is now on my list. I didn't see the story going the way it did, it was a nice surprise. The world-building was exceptionally interesting and well written, the descriptions took me exactly where I needed it to be, creating a wonderful world with different types of characters to enrich the story. This was one of my top to look forward to this year and I am giving it a 5 star because I can't give it more, definitely a story I will be recommending, and would love to see some spin-offs as well as an audiobook to bring these characters to life. Brilliant fantasy PNR romance story!

This one was better than the first book, I did really like the ending, but still had the same problem of not explaining anything and written like a fan fiction/ short story? It was interesting, but it could’ve been so much better.

Sweet Holiest of titfires... This book...
It never seems to matter the sub-genre that this author writes in because if they are her words then I will read them and fall in love. A King so Cold was one of my top books of 2020. So, it should be no surprise that The Stray Prince would follow its predecessor and own my heart. It would be unfair to say, in my opinion, whether this book surpasses the other one because it hit differently than the first book. This one didn't need the world-building that the first one did and, instead, focused on expanding on the amazingness and heights of my imagination. I can say, however, that it definitely met my expectations and exceeded them in a different way than I was expecting.
I found that I was more invested with Audra and Zad in this book than I even was in the first book because I felt like I knew them. They were not just fictional characters. Instead, they were real in my mind and their love story was MY love story which made the angst in this book hit harder. I wanted to scream at them when they were being difficult or when there didn't seem to be a solution out of the situations that they both found themselves in. I didn't have another character like Raiden pulling at my heartstrings and instead, my focus was just on these two. All I wanted was for these two characters to be able to find their happy medium and to give in to their bond.
This road was bumpy. There were a few moments of the book that wondered how, or even if things were going to change. This author didn't make it easy. There are some pretty big twists and turns that were unexpected but also were fantastic because it gave me pause, and made me want to swear my eternal love and devotion to this author because she enthralled me yet again. There was the perfect balance of story and steam. Good Lord, the steam...
There are so many more things that I could say about this book, but either I cannot give anything away because it will ruin the epicness that is this book, or because simply my mere words could not do this book justice. There is a reason that this author is not only a one-click author but also one of my all-time favorites. I highly recommend this book. It is most definitely going in my top books of 2021.

Definitely surprised by the plot of this book. It was an interesting read but the things that made me the most frustrated about the characters in the first book were on full display here. So because of that it was hard to enjoy. Although I loved seeing the development with Kash!
"I will always forgive you, because there is nothing else, not for me, but also because you are a queen and you acted as such. You didn't need to apologize, but I love you and I thank you for doing what I so selfishly needed." - Zadicus
Listen, i Prefer my characters to be morally grey but.. Audra was hypocritical, selfish and prideful for the entirety of the two books. A Queen So Cold might've been a little more fitting of a title for book 1. I liked the story itself, they were interesting and were different from a lot of the fantasy romance I've read recently; I just did not care for her.
Spoilers below
The Stray Prince in a nutshell: Audra was kidnapped by Zadicus's brother, the fae king, in order to lure him back to the fae lands. Unfortunately, Zadicus hadn't shared his past with her yet.
Okay, that really sucks when you're looking at the situation simply.
HOWEVER, there are Things to consider, bear with me. Zadicus had a couple reasons for his decision to wait;
1) He thought they had more time. He had made a deal with his brother, which was supposed to have ensured he was left alone in the human lands as long as he gave up a precious piece of himself (his wings) and his claim to the throne. Which leads to reason #2...
2) He was waiting for the Right time to have this conversation. I don't think he was necessarily putting it off, but they were in the middle of a shit show already. The timing hadn't been great. This would be a huge revelation and needed to be brought up when they had the time and mental energy to really discuss it.
3) He wasn't ready yet. He wasn't ready, and thought he had time to become ready. No one wants to be rushed into having to disclose something that haunts them. That didn't mean he planned to keep this secret forever, he had intended on sharing this with Audra. One thing she failed to consider was that it was going to be just as hard for him to revisit his dark past as it would be to accept. Selfish thinking IMO.
After his secrets were brought to light, she told Zadicus that she didn't think she would ever be able to forgive him for this secret. This had her ready to throw him away, her mate. Even after he explained the reasons I mentioned, she was dead set on looking at this as the ultimate betrayal. Meanwhileeee, she's out here doing her own thing, making her own plans, and inevitably got Zadicus and her friends hurt. This was a common theme throughout both books. Not considering the consequences of her actions or simply not giving a f about those consequences.
The breaking point for me was her making the deal with the fae king. If her intentions had been pure when she made the deal, this wouldn't have been my final straw - I would have sacrificed more straws for this twat. Alas, her inner monologue made it clear that she was doing it out of spite for Zadicus's secrets. Zadicus said it himself, he intended no harm with his actions. Adura's actions were meant to cause him pain, under the guise of granting him his wings back.
Zadicus may forgive you, Audra. I don't.
3.5 stars rounded up. Not as good as the first, but I loved Ryle. There were missed opportunities with him tho. RTC.
