I think I actually ended up liking this one more than the first. I really liked Zad’s character and getting to see through his POV. I always had my suspicions about Zad. Not really sure what was up but knew there was something. During the first book, I never would have guessed he was a stray faerie prince. But I did guess it before it was revealed. This book was short enough that it never felt like it was dragging. There was always something happening that was of importance.

I loved getting to see Audra swallowing her pride and apologizing and asking for what she wanted from Zad. Actually trying to be better and do better while at the same time still being part of that icy queen she was in the first book.

And this was a time when I appreciated the epilogue. We got a nice, little update on the characters, story lines were neatly tied off, lingering questions were answered, and no others were posed from it.

Wow! I definitely was not expecting that. This is an amazing conclusion to Audra, and Zadicus' tale. Overall, I would highly recommend this series.

The eagerly awaited follow up is here and its every bit as fantastic as A King So Cold! I just absolutely loved this book and got little else accomplished today (#sorrynotsorry) as I DEVOURED all the wonderful words that took me to a far off land. This is SO far out of my wheelhouse, I don't think I could read something like this from any other author, Ms. Fields truly is magic, able to transport you to a place you can only dream about. Again we are with Audra and Zad as they try and fight for their love, secrets are revealed and all the pieces fall into place. It was like seeing old friends again, besides Audra and Zad we got to see more of Mintale, Raiden, Truin, and Kash as well as some fresh faces. I loved the story and even more I loved the escape this journey gave me. This author could write an instruction manual and I'd read it lol. I can't wait for more adventures!

What a ride! Definitely was afraid of the second book after loving A King So Cold, but Ella Fields delivered it with an amazing storyline, with the characters I fell in love with, twists and angst that had me reading through the night non-stop. Audra and Zadicus two characters I won't forget, such a strong and refreshing heroine and a book boyfriend that is now on my list. I didn't see the story going the way it did, it was a nice surprise. The world-building was exceptionally interesting and well written, the descriptions took me exactly where I needed it to be, creating a wonderful world with different types of characters to enrich the story. This was one of my top to look forward to this year and I am giving it a 5 star because I can't give it more, definitely a story I will be recommending, and would love to see some spin-offs as well as an audiobook to bring these characters to life. Brilliant fantasy PNR romance story!

i remembered enjoying the first book—A King So Cold—so that's why I picked up this book. Either because I get older or my taste changed, i found The Stray Prince to be tiresome.

the pace itself isn't bad. there were no parts that were dragged or rushed. things escalated quickly from the beginning. but I think the pace is a no for me since it's combined with the plot. i felt like being strapped down on a never-ending rollercoaster ride. problem A solved, came problem B. the characters solved B, problem C already came knocking at their door. the cost of this is that each problem was resolved too clumsily for my liking.

what's more unbearable for me was the characters. i didn't find any major character development in any of them. Audra, our FMC, kept being her proud, i'm-very-cruel self. while Zad was still territorial and a fool for love. all the drama could be avoided if only these two would just lower their ego, sit down, and communicate. at some point, even Kash has had enough of them. the only character I'm intrigued by is Ryle. yes, he's a villain but his moves kept me interested enough to keep reading.

also, what was "the war" at the end? i don't understand why is it there at all. well, it had a hand in fixing Audra and Zad's relationship, as well as Este and Kole's but it was so unnecessary. another thing, why must everything have to be about sex in this world? the land is dying because the ruler needs to have an orgie?? the fae ruler will have a headache because they absorb too much power from the land, thus they need to climax—or in their word, release themselves?? *scream into the void*

all in all, The Stray Prince clearly wasn't written for me. don't get me wrong, i enjoy fantasy stories that have a dark nuance to them with characters that aren't saints or heroes. alas, this book was a miss. i give the 0.5 star for the epilogue because it was sweet and a much-needed cure after the previous 25 chapters.
but i think this book might be for you if you like:
  • NA fantasy
  • fae court and magic
  • the concept of mate: no one should touch or even look at my mate or i shall end them
  • cunning and prideful FMC
  • territorial royal male as the love interest

There are books that fail to live upto the hype and shock me anymore than the first book in the series. suffice to say that this book will never be in this category, because what a fookng amaing this book was, i can't even begin to explain.
first of all [a:Ella Fields|16851087|Ella Fields|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1587164419p2/16851087.jpg] did a fantastic job was weaving a magical world with depth and the characterizations!!!

second---- helll0., Zadicus & Audra. i have only ever read few books that had such amazing, intense and layered characters for both the H &h. Most times, one falls short but both of our fae Prince and queen Slayed.

ok, now little review(because honestly, i will just keep on fangirling over zad, audra and ella)
The Stray Prince is the second book in the royals series and the duet is now complete.
After the cliffhanger of book 1 where new land and new creatures come forward, this book introduces us to the new world, one, that our queen Audra must win else she might just lose her heart and home.
Magic and romance and some dark twisted secrets make this one a must read for all fantasy lovers with little bit of darkness on it.

lastly----- the s8x, holy sh*t, this was some hot ass book. but i have a favourite. if you haven't read it. what are you waiting for? it has real animalistic and dominating, wild Zad!!!!
