This is a heart wrenching, gut punching story for any parent to read. I appreciated a really well done narrative of the inner monologue associated to coming to terms with the decision that Felicia had to make towards the end and thereafter. It was a good exploration of one's own morals and the beliefs society upholds. This probably wouldn't be one I would recommend freely and advise that people review trigger warnings before picking up.

Felicia is a single mother, a lawyer by day, and volunteer at the local crisis hotline. One night, she gets a call from a local teenage girl who reveals that she was the victim of sexual assault at a house party. Felicia breaks protocol by giving the teen her personal phone number and she grows increasingly determined to help the young woman stay safe and seek justice. Over time, Felicia begins to worry that she may know one of the assailants.

Decently predictable, One of Our Own is a quick read packed with reveals. I was able to get the audiobook really quickly via the Libby app, and it was well done. 3☆

I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read that wasn’t too complicated. The only thing I didn’t like was the ending. I really wish that it had been left more ambiguous and you were stuck questioning at the end of who did it.
