Not quite sure I understand it all...

If you're looking for a relaxing read, this book is not it! I give it 3 stars for the story, because it was EXTREMELY hard to keep straight(because you would have to read it multiple times to catch everything they throw at you, but it wasn't interesting enough for me to want to do that), and 5 stars for the sheer brilliance in the way it was told. I felt like this book needed a companion volume to give you background info (which you sort of get in the foreword), a glossary of all the different people mentioned, and a guide for how to read the book, or even how to read it linearly. Either way, it is an absolutely beautiful piece of literature and I'm not sorry I broke the seal and opened it up.

I read an interview with a writer from Alias who quit the show because at one point he asked where it was all going and Abrams answer was like a shrug of the shoulders "does it matter?" And of course there's the last three seasons of Lost... So what was I expecting here? Well, I loved House of Leaves and I was excited to see another attempt at a very engaging writing style. The book is beautiful looking with Abrams flare for mixing romance, adventure, suspense and mystery, but the actual story is only so-so, and where was it all going?... *shrug* does it really matter?
