I've been putting off reading this for months, and I'm extremely mixed about it. Lori, the main character, must be the most unpleasant or wicked person in the novel. Her style of thinking and saying things was unpleasant and irritated me, but she eventually got what she deserved. She was extremely delusional. It was so infuriating because I couldn't picture a real person thinking this way, but the truth is that people do think this way. Despite her being so irritating, I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

I wish I could wash my eyes with bleach, but here we are.  Wonderfully told, but I wish I never read it.

Look… this book is brutal and disgusting. However, it is also beautifully written and some of the best cosmic horror I’ve ever read. This is my kind of Splatterpunk novel.

Found it predictable but a good read nonetheless. The River Man portion was obviously the best and I wish there had been more of it. The author does a really good job having the main characters truly disgust you, and while that made me feel icky, it really added to the depravity of it all.
