Felt slower paced at times. A lot of repeated information I felt like the author though we needed to be reminded what happened earlier in the book or who people were.

THIS SERIES IS RUINING MY LIFE. This installment of the series is, I think, the best one so far. There is just so much that goes down and the "resolution" at the end, if you want to call it that, is the single worst thing I have ever read in my life. It's perfect. It is exactly what I didn't think could ever possibly happen and the fact that it was so well crafted, along with being so unexpected, is freaking killing me. I mean, I don't even have words for what I'm going through, and I just need to know what happens next so I already have the next two books on my kindle and I probably won't sleep tonight just to know what the f*&% is going on in this world. Ugh. I hate it. I love it. I need it. (I feel kinda like Mac at the end, I guess...)

RATING: 1.5 stars

I don't care anymore. I don't care if MacKayla gets the fairy book or if she and Barrons get it on, or if Dublin is saved from evil Rhino-boys.

Three books in there was very little progression to the overarching story (only a little bit at the end, but you have to slog through a lot of nothing to reach it). The characters don't evolve (especially the main character), there is no smaller plot to keep you entertained (like a mystery, or, I don't know, character development), only Mac saying she needs to find a book for 300 pages.

The ending seemed to be there mostly for shock value (yes, I am sure there is another reason, which is kinda obvious,
Spoilercontrolling Mac through her addiction to "fairy sex"
but in general there were other ways to achieve this. Only not as shocking. I kinda dislike books that go for shocking cliffhangers to keep you reading but damn if I'm not going to read the next one (maybe just start when I'm less angry) just to see what happens. And that's why I'm giving this the extra half-star. But don't let my willingness fool you, this is plotless and trashy fun. Touche, I guess. Well played. You got me.

Did want to read the whole series. 11 books is a lot.

You can find my review for book 1 of the series here. The plan was to review them all by themselves, but each book is so closely linked to each other, I think its impossible to do without spoiling things! Because of that I am going to be vague and hope you trust me that you absolutely must read this series if you haven’t!

Darkfever and Bloodfever were good. They weren’t OMG YOU HAVE TO READ THIS good for me, but I read them quickly and really enjoyed them. The same can not be said for book 3 and 4. Faefever and Dreamfever are OMG YOU HAVE TO READ THIS good. They are full of surprises, storyline, and action. A small warning, both do end with cliffhangers…. Dreamfever probably being one of the worst I have read…. EVER! It is going to be a long wait for book 5, Shadowfever.

There were things I absolutely loved about this series. There are also things that made me frown and things that disappointed me. Most importantly, this series grabs you by the shirt and drags you in, makes you care about the characters and what is going on in their world.

I love Mac, I especially love Mac version 4.0. Her character arc and the growth in her is captivating.

Barrons…. still an jerk. But book 4 warms me up to him and I can see all the soft goey nugget inside. I know I would happily volunteer to poke around with him and try to find more of it.

Barrons and Mac together…. they make me swear like a sailor. They are stubborn and pigheaded and I just want to hit both of them upside the head.

*sigh* How much longer until Shadowfever?

Spoiler First half: Mac lets Jayne eat Seelie so he know what's going on and ropes him in to help her so she can track the Sinsar Dubh by letting her now the strange crimes that happen. She gets into a fight with the other Sidhe Seers because Rowena is an absolute cunt, pardon my French. She accidentally kills one of them and goes into the abbey to explain it with V'lane by her side. Maybe not the best or subletest ways but hey, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. V'lane also marks his name on her tongue. She can summon him this way. We learn that the Lord Master is a Seelie who lost his status as punishment for betraying the Queen. Mac gets pulled between Barrons and V'lane, secretely I loooooove the tension. We see a bit more of Dani who isn't as judgy as Rowena, thank god. Somebody is sending pages of Alina her journal to Mac. We learn the Sinsar Dubh is somehow sentient, luring people to it and turning them evil, eventually making them kill themselves and moving on. Christian McKeltar is a lie-detector, spying on Barrons, which Barrons finds out when he uses the Voice on Mac. He agreed to teach Mac to withstand the voice but he's a little pissed she got off with V'lane and retalliates by uses the Voice against her, learning everything she was withholding from him.

Part Two : All hell breaks lose! The Lord Master wants to let the protection-walls fall. The unseelie are leading the people into dark zones and Mac can't get to Barrons nor Vlane.

Part Three: Mac gets raped by the four Unseelie Princes ...

I love that this book made me giggle a lot.

This one was my favorite so far. I thought that I would finish this book last night and go to sleep a little early. However, my plan failed because the ending was just so good and unexpected (maybe I'm naive and I should have seen it coming, but I didn't), and so I had to start the next one and I got halfway through it before I called it a night.

"The most confused we ever get is when we’re trying to convince our heads of something our heart knows is a lie."

“Stay away from her,” Barrons growled. “She comes to me of her own will. She calls me, chooses me.”

“You won’t harm a hair on her head, or I’ll kill you,” said Barrons.

"I couldn’t teach you to care about us in a million years. But you know what really pisses me off? I shouldn’t have to justify our existence to you, or any Fae. We were here first. We have the right to this planet. You don’t.”

I began to cry. Barrons looked horrified. “Stop that immediately, Ms. Lane.”
