I don't know why I'm still reading this series.

Hands down, no doubt about it, 5 stars. Whatever doubt I might have had regarding this series has been dispelled midway through the first book. But after reading the third installment of this series, well, I honestly would have missed out on an amazing, dramatic, unique, vibrant story. I totally recommend it! I had read the controversial scene at the very end before even starting the series and I can only say that it was perfectly written, artistically and elegantly placed, one of my all-time favourite scenes, but it is a tremendous cliffhanger. I personally have no issue with them whatsoever, if they are done in such a fine way, but those who prefer immediate continuity should have the next book handy. I, unfortunately, have not been able to control my desire to devour the third book long enough so I need to wait two more accursed days for the last 2 books to arrive. Alas, this is a journey I have no regret being on. Very, very good Fae books, awesome world building, bittersweet twists, Barrons is perfect as usual, and one cannot possibly hate Mac at this point. Not even dislike. There are things I would have wanted to be more present. Longer descriptions of horrific events and/or battles, for example, but this does not take away from the novel's beauty and level of enjoyment. This being said, I will step away from the internet for the moment, out of fear of looking up excerpts of book 4. MUST.WAIT.UNTIL.SUNDAY....

Okay, we had to put up with JB's dickhead attitude in the last two books, but he was the WORST in this one! He actually wrecked the book for me. Especially when he grabbed and dragged Mac down the street!!! Wtf! I'm not enjoying Mac's weakness of not kicking him in the balls and telling him to F£&@ right off! I am about to start the next in the series though. Big cliffhanger!

Disappointed by this one, I'm not sur I will continue the serie.

If an author feels the need to post a disclaimer at the end of a book explaining how she foreshadowed the horribleness of what the main character is going through at the end of the book, and then even goes on to tell her readers not to lose hope because she also foreshadowed the main character coming out of the horribleness even better than before, then that author has failed in an epic way plot-wise. Also was NOT happy with the spoon-fed regurgitation of seemingly every single thing not of the real world (but part of the world this book and the two preceding books reside in), characters, backstory, etc. For goodness sake, give your readers a tiny bit of credit for retention. I like the series, but this book could have used with some major fat-cutting and would have read much better.

Egads, I am not good with keeping up with a series! The last time I read these books there were only two published. And now...

I'm restarting this series and it's such a good urban fantasy. There are a few elements that bother me but none are so overwhelming that I can't finish the book.

What I love are the characters, especially Barrons. He's so unique in that he doesn't treat Mac like she is made of glass, and he's not a nice guy. But for all appearances, he has the same end goal as Mac and that makes them tentative allies.

Can't wait until I get my hands on the next book!

I was surprised by how many words I had to look up in the dictionary while reading this - I don't typically expect an advanced vocabulary in a romance novel, but hats off to Moning. Mac is continuing to evolve into a less offensive damsel, but by this point I'd really like at least a little resolution on who's a good guy and who's a bad guy.

This was just as enticing as the others, with action that kept me rapidly turning each page. However, I always found myself wondering when some of the answers would be revealed already. I understand the need to build suspense, to keep the reader intrigued, but the unanswered questions in the series is outrageous. All in all, I was ready to get to the next.

That ending took me by surprise...in a bad way.
I need a fluffy romance
