I think I'm finally starting to like Mac now. She's starting to grow on me. And don't even get me started about Jericho Barrons. *Fans herself to cool off.* There is something seriously addicting about that man!
The growth of Mac in this book is noticeable and I think that's why I'm finally starting to like her. She's not the "Rainbow Girl" anymore and I love that. However, the ending of this book had me screaming. I couldn't believe what had happened to her. I was screaming at V'lane and Barrons for not being there to stop it from happening to her after the walls fell.
Altogether, I've come to find that this series is a very addicting read. I read this book in less than 24 hours and couldn't wait to start the next one.

4.5 ⭐️ EXCUSE THE FUCK OUT OF ME????!!!! WHAT JUST HAPPENED?! I’m. Unwell. This series has officially consumed every fiber of my being. Each book just keeps getting better and better and better. I truly have never read anything like this before and I am blown away. If you are an urban fantasy romance lover like myself or love any book involving Fae…. I need you to drop what you’re doing and SPRINT to read this please and thank you.
Somehow in book 3 the plot continues to build in complexity without being confusing and overwhelming. The foreshadowing is PERFECTION I cannot get over how genius KMM is with all the little Easter eggs she’s has planted throughout the series. I’m devouring these books like they are my last meal on earth. Sleep??? Don’t know her.
Rapid fire thoughts:
- Jericho. Berons. The FUCKING MORALLY GREY MAN THAT YOU ARE. I am in fact so unbelievably down bad for this man somebody needs to sedate me. He’s absolutely insane and still has so many god damn secrets and I simply don’t care. I need everyone to experience him.
- THIS IS THE MAC I WAS WAITING FORRRRRR!! God there’s something about when a character you started off not really liking weasels their way into your heart that is so satisfying!! Her growth in this book was EVERYTHING!! I was cheering for her from the sidelines the whole time and now I’m petrified because I know my girls about to go through it in the next book….
- ENDED BOOK 3 WITH THE SLOW BURN STILL SLOW BURNING!!!!!! Yup. Im about to internally combust. This slow burn is done so well for two reasons. 1. The romance is very much so a sub plot, it not being the main focus allows the build up of Mac and Jerichos relationship to be so much slower without being annoying. And 2. KMM doesn’t give us a bunch of Mac and Jericho scenes so everytime they are on page together the tension is so thick and the chemistry is fucking INSANE!
- I cannot get over how entertaining this plot is!! It’s absolutely nonstop action and adventure and complete and utter chaos and I’m so here for it!
- That ending had me sweating and hyperventilating.
- Who’s good? Who’s evil? Who do I trust? Don’t fucking know and I love that.
Maybe I should sleep before book 4… maybe not.

Goodness! What can I say about this book? Is it possible to love a series and hate a series at the same time? First of all, it was a page turner. I couldn't put it down and read it in less than a day. At times I was rushing through to find out what would happen next. I was on the edge of my chair. I enjoyed most of the time I spent reading it, and I have no regrets in spending my day reading this book.
BUT . . . I am so frustrated with this series also. First of all, I found my mind wandering at the beginning of the novel as Mac recalled all the things that had happened to her in the previous two books. But, I'll let that pass because I was lucky enough to start this series after all the books were published, so I'm reading them immediately after the previous books. If I had had to wait a year between books I might appreciate the recap more.
Secondly, why doesn't anything at all get resolved? Why don't any of the relationships seem to move forward at all? I feel like I am stuck in some sort of vortex where there is a ton of confusion, and all sorts of people flying around. Every chapter seems to add some new mystery to the tornado, but nothing gets solved. The vortex just seems to grow and grow. I seem pulled to root for Mac and Barrons to end up together, but I'm never pulled into their personalities enough to become fully vested in that relationship. I am all in favor of romantic tension and mystery in a story. I love that in a book or series of books, but goodness, it would be nice if there were some movement toward some understanding of enigmas within the book as I continue to read.
And the ending! I don't know what to say about that. I'm still working through my feelings about it, but I think right now I'm stuck on anger about it. After three books of constant mystery and chaos, it seems unfair to face an ending like this. I'm not exactly looking forward to two more books of Mac having to get away from and work through this new development. The best news for me is that the last two books have already been published, so I can start reading them immediately.
My final verdict -- the continual chaos within the storyline of these books prevent me from calling it one of my favorite paranormal series, but I do enjoy reading them. They keep me interested, and I'm not giving up on the series as a whole. It could be after I finish the next two books I will see the wisdom of this third book, and I'll be able to rank this series as a truly great one.

The saga becomes more and more complex... I haven't had the chance to pick up Book 4 yet, so I am concerned about how the handling of the rape scene cliffhanger will resolve. I felt icky when I finished.

Oooh, this series is getting good! I'm finally getting used to the writing style and pacing, and can't wait to read book 4.
Bleh. She trusts strangers and mistrusts people who have saved her. At any given opportunity the heroine consistently makes the wrong choice. Also, an Irish man would be Paddy, not Patty.
This is a reread of an old favorite and it’s turning into the farewell tour.
Rating is artificial cause I think it was a 5 previously but today idk

Another one like the last. Read it fast and ended up wanting to bang my head against the wall.
Too much rehashing of EVERY SINGLE DETAIL. Seriously, you just finished hearing about her obsession with clothes, how she used to be so spoiled, how her sister is dead... you'll be going through it again in the next ten to twenty pages. I feel like I'd like this book SO MUCH better if we didn't go over everything ten times. She's 22? Check. Likes pink? Check. Is a wuss? Check. Feels like she is magically insightful at random awkward moments? Check. We got it, Moning, please just get on with the actual plot line.
Please?
Still, there are redeeming qualities... Barons. Dani.
And I swear, I want a show down between Barons and Mac because it is driving me UP THE WALL how it isn't going anywhere -- even when something happens, IT'S LIKE THEY FORGET IT.
I'm going ahead and giving it two stars because it does seem to have RAZOR SHARP TALONS OF DOOM in me that won't let go.
...maybe the next one will be better?
