Such a slow burn… 🔥

I like seeing the evolution of Mac. This type of Fae lore reminds me of Buffy season 7. IYKYK.

3 stars. I feel like this series is finally finding it's footing in terms of where the story is going and the pacing. This was my favorite that I've read so far but I still couldn't justify giving it anything higher than a 3 star.

First and foremost, what the hell was that ending? Insanity I tell you. I'm almost nervous to find out what happens after that craziness, but again, this series is really good at getting me hooked with the endings and I hate it.

Hooray for character development because I actually really liked Mac. I feel like she's definitely come a long way from where she was in the first book and thank the literary heavens for that! She was pretty kickass and she really got things going and wasn't just helpless and lost all the damn time. I'm looking forward to see where her character goes next especially after that ending (I WILL NOT GET OVER THAT! WTF?).

The only other character in this series that I like besides Mac is Dani. I think she's an interesting character and she's only 13!! I want more of her because she seems like she has a pretty interesting backstory for being so young.

My main gripe with this series is that all of the males are awful. I hate them all and I don't trust any of them, not even Christian. Also, what was up with everyone being nosey about Mac's sex life? It came off really creepy and rubbed me the wrong way. Barrons is abusive, V’lane is a slimy rapist and Christian is suspect as hell. I just wish all of the men didn’t suck so hard.

Overall, the series is starting to pick up and I’m interested to see where it goes from here on.

This book is the darker, sharper blade in the Fever series—a gothic, pulse-pounding descent into Dublin’s supernatural underworld that left me breathless and slightly traumatized (in the best way). Moning cranks every element to eleven: the atmosphere is thick with rain-soaked dread, the Fae are more terrifyingly seductive, and Mac’s evolution from sunshine girl to hardened sidhe-seer is masterful. Her desperation to avenge Alina collides with a hunt for the Sinsar Dubh—a book so evil it bleeds corruption—and the result is pure, addictive chaos.

The alliances? Fireworks. V’lane’s lethal, erotic allure vs. Jericho Barrons’ primal, enigmatic intensity creates a triangle that’s less "romance" and more "battlefield strategy." Every interaction crackles with danger and unresolved tension. Barrons, especially, remains a delicious mystery—every growled word and hidden agenda kept me glued. And Dublin itself? A shape-shifting character, oozing menace as Halloween’s Eve approaches.

Moning’s genius lies in balancing visceral horror (those grim experiments), psychological thrills (Mac’s journal-fueled paranoia), and emotional gut-punches. The climax? A tidal wave of Fae carnage and a cliffhanger so brutal, I nearly threw my Kindle. Faefever doesn’t just raise stakes—it sets them on fire and dances in the ashes.

Why 4.5? The middle sags slightly under lore dumps, and Mac’s internal monologue occasionally loops. But these are quibbles. This installment cemented my obsession. If you loved the first two books, Faefever is the series at its peak: darker, smarter, and utterly ruthless. Just brace your heart—and clear your schedule for the next book. 🌧️🔪 [Barrons, you magnificent, morally void fortress of a man… I’m still not over you.]

Meh. Not as good as the first 2 books. Zero excitement and suspense until the last 2 chapters.

I’m not sure how to feel about this series- on the one hand, it is incredibly gripping and the world-building is excellent. On the other hand.

WHERE ARE THE JOKES IS THE ROMANCE??

Look, I like my urban fantasy but I need more than the tiny splash of sexual tension the first three books are giving me. I’m seriously starting to side eye those who have recommended this to me as a romance.

Also, coming off Moning’s Highlander series, I’m even more confused by the complete dearth of swoon. I know Ms. Thang can write some SWOON.

Also, high key pissed that Barrons ruined that cake. The man and his mood swings are so tiring. Just don’t eat the feckin cake, dude! You CHOSE to be there.
