Maybe my favorite one in the series...? I’ll reevaluate after I read Shadowfever.

Faefever is the third book in the Fever series, and I enjoyed this one better than the second book in the series. I liked that we got to learn more of the lore surrounding the sidhe-seers as well as the book. I also found the journal pages that Mac received from her sister to be interesting especially when compared to what Mac knows of her sister. I also continue to enjoy the interactions between Mac and Barrons. However, Mac’s continued choice to keep critical information can be infuriating. This book also has an even more sinister feel as the countdown to Halloween is on. The plot was fast paced making this a quick, easy read. I read it via audiobook. I’m still not a huge fan of the narration, but I found it less bothersome in this installment. I’m curious to see where Moning takes the next book.

Whelp... that was an ending. I am still only reading this for Mac's perspective and I somewhat like the drama. I started to like Barrons in this one, which was new.

3/5 stars

what an Ending, folks!

this got a bit dull in the middle but expanded on many of the plot lines and finally things felt like they were Actually happening. this might be one of the best books in the series so far? it is also the one that took me the longest to sift through and i even considered dropping the series, lol, so there's that, take it as you will.

THE ENDING!!! I screamed!!!
Also the tension btw Mac Vlane and Barrons is too good.
Mac’s growth through the series is also excellence. Everyone should be reading this series 👏🏻

Quote of this novel:
No wonder Barrons was so determined to keep me alive, and I had a Fae prince playing lapdog, and the Lord Master hadn't yet launched a full-scale attack against me. They all needed me alive. I was Tigger. I was the only one.

And I died.

The Fever series moves very slowly, hour-wise, but it never feels like Moning is trying to slow things down. The pace fits and it makes me so excited to know that there may be all the more books because of that. She also passes my test of having a fully-formed story in each novel without having to rely on the series. You know there's going to be a next book, but the major plot-lines are not left open.

I also like how she acknowledges what the reader is thinking in each novel. In Darkfever I was thinking, "Duh, Barrons is her sister's lovah," and Mac admits that she was worried, too. In Faefever, I started thinking, "Oh geez, I bet Barrons is the Unseelie King," only to have Mac verbalize that thought. One of my biggest pet peeves about detective/crime novels is when an author completely ignores a line of thought because it's the penultimate answer.

Anyway, this book has a huge cliffhanger, so I can't wait for the library to give me Dreamfever.

I was so excited when I finished this series, that I went straight to my blog and did a review (that I will probably have to edit later since I wrote this without fully having absorbed the entire series). My blog is supposed to be a collaborative review, but I couldn't wait on my bestie to read the series before I put it all down on paper...well, virtual paper. I did a review of the entire series, with vague spoilers *that ARE avoidable*. You can see my full review HERE
