Heartwarming. I loved reading about this wonderful and meaningful friendship.
3.5 stars. The story was sweet, but do we really need another white savior story?? I’m interested in reading the adult version of this book.
What an amazing story. I read some of the mean reviews on this book, and could not disagree more. I found this a fascinating read. A friendship where each person filled a void in each others' life.
I love the story itself itself but found parts of the book either over the top (her mother waking after being declared dead) and/or off topic (stories about her siblings). I understand the connect she was trying to make- her background making her more empathetic and compassionate to the troubled youth, but it became a bit tenuous.
She is clearly a very caring and genuinely good person. If only everyone would take a vested interested in another person in need!

The writing was nothing special, but the story is thought provoking and refreshing. A quick read.

This book was wonderful. A true testament to the difference a person can make in the life of another. I highly recommend it.
I picked this book up because it was something different than what I normally read and I was looking for something different to write a book review on.
That said, I may keep looking for a book.
This book told the story of Laurie and Maurice, two people in completely different worlds, who met under strange circumstances, but who still formed a special friendship. The plot is interesting....I just felt it did not go into enough detail about the two people and their friendship. I wanted to see more about the times they spent together.
Worth a read if you, too, are looking for something different.

Holy crap. This hit me like a truck. First book in along time to make me cry.
This is one of the most touching stories I have ever read.
