This memoir was touching, but I don't know if it was the narration (I listened to it) or the writing, it just wasn't as compelling as I thought it would be.

I may have given it 3 1/2 stars if I could have. I liked the story but I didn't love the writing. I had some frustration with it. I kinda wish it was written by Maurice... or at the very least together... maybe alternating chapters or something. Laura seems great and all but there were definitely moments I wants to shake her.

I really like the concept of people being drawn together for unknown reasons/forces. I dislike the way the story was written. The flashbacks were inserted too abruptly and were sometimes out of place. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the growth of their relationship and independent lives.
The writing is scattered, but the story is beautiful.

A very moving and emotional story. This really makes you think about people you may have seen that are on the streets and down on their luck. You can put blinders on & ignore them as you pass, but there can be so much more to that person's life story that you have no clue about. Reading all that Maurice went through growing up, really will make you appreciate all that you have.
