I noticed this book on a 'New Reads' shelf at Borders several months ago, and when I finally got around to picking it up at the library I wasn't really sure what to expect.
Surprisingly I found it to be every bit of wonderful that it has previously been reviewed as! I stayed up late in to the night reading it and was horribly disappointed when I realized the second one had not yet been published.
Now, I'm not much of a book reviewer, but I can say one thing about it... This book got me back in to my reading groove and I loved every minute of it!

Good summer read. Some aspects of it were tiring- the romance- and others were interesting- historical references. I will definitely read the second one.

I appreciated the deeply rooted academia throughout the story as it elevated traditional romantasy tropes. The love story is a little cringe at times but forgivable. The last third of the book is well worth the slower beginning.

I started reading after watching the show and fell in love with the books as well as the show. I like how the main female character is in her 30s and is independent. It’s relatable.
